LIFE DRAWINGS FROM PHOTOREFERENCE #186: From 2019, another set drawn in Procreate!

From my 2019 era of experimentation in the iPad art app Procreate, here's a sketch set derived from a mix of random photoreference. At this point I was still using Procreate's admittedly "mushy-looking" Medium Airbrush to get something onto the g-d tablet:

Ehh, no idea who the heck Rain Mikamura might be, but the cosplay photo was good ref. (I could of course look up the g-d name, but screw that.)

Overall, a pretty solid set, even given the limitations of the airbrush tool I was using. In fact, as you'll see shortly, the next few Procreate sets were remarkably solid; that said, my next Life Drawing set posted here will likely be something much more up to date. (Well, maybe, as I'm currently having great difficulty keeping up with the M/W/F weekly posting.)

NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: No idea, TBH, but something should be coming up in the next M/W/F slot. Let's find out together, shall we?

UPDATE: Ehh, might be that g-d double-page spread from The Chaste and the Chained, if I ever get around to doing final correx on the miserable thing.

excellent!

G-Gundam mecha pilots use skin-tight latex suits that trace their movements onto the robot in lieu of the usual controls They’re applied to the pilot as they enter the cockpit… seems like something along your style!

TF Commando

Yeah, G-Gundam was deliberately very different from most other Gundam stories. It was framed as a fighting tournament with often outre representatives of various space colonies (Rain starts off as the backup for Neo-Japan, a space colony shaped like Japan, and becomes their official fighter when the main protagonist goes dashing after the threat that inevitably turns out to be lurking behind most tournament anime). I mean, one of the older fighters has a Gundam-sized horse that his Gundam rides...and the horse Gundam is piloted by a horse wearing one of those suits.

Gotta admit that, due to those very antennae, I would not have guessed she was a Gundam-related character!

Adam Warren

Rain is a supporting character in G-Gundam. All the pilots in that show have those weird shoulder antennae things.

The girls turned out especially great.
