I am back.

Alright, I will admit that putting it so bluntly, spitting it on the page and watching my statement squirm like some newly-birthed thing was a little too uncomfortable. Perhaps a little more tact would have been better. Right. Right.

Well I suppose I should get on with it. There was much less work to do today. For the past three weeks, I have been cutting back on work. There’s no need to go in every day, from the ass crack of dawn to late at night. Peach’s health has improved greatly, he even went back to work a little while ago. I’m glad for him. Between the hospital and our room, I know he felt horribly stifled. He has nothing to worry about anymore, however. The mortgage, our student loans, any other debts we’ve accrued, we managed to settle them, and now I can relax.

I didn’t notice how quiet the house is.

Was this what Viktor sat in for all these years?

Well if that’s the case then it’s no wonder he is so happy to get back to work. He’s smiling a lot more, always talking on the phone with his colleagues about work, even at home. I have tried to understand his work, I really have. But I am not a mechanical engineer, and try as he might, Vik is not very good at explaining things. His brilliant mind works so fast, I don’t think he can stop to explain his principles to me. But seeing him so alive makes me happy. I’ve learned to ask the right questions, of course. Anything to get him to speak more and more. I’m only realizing how quiet he had become when he was ill. His work has him very excited, rightfully so. I think that’s why he is staying over so late at the lab. Surely, he must know not to get too overzealous. I’ve told him to take it easy. Oh Peach, he grumbled something about everything being alright. Yes’ it’s alright.

Although… I was not fully honest. I say he speaks with his colleagues. Perhaps my work influences the way I put things too much. I have to be careful with my words, and perhaps I have become too good at it. His colleagues. It’s only one now. A man. I’ve heard his voice before. He can keep up effortlessly with Peach’s thoughts. No, he actually makes them go much faster. Sometimes. Other times, he patiently walks the agonizing path of their sciences together with Peach. The other day, Vik shouted that they solved some equation. He was in his office, I was in the sitting room. The first person he called was his colleague. I caught his name this time.

Jayce. Who is Jayce?
