Morning

The sunrise in the mountains is absolutely gorgeous. The air is so crisp and fresh. Breathing it in feels like an honor. It’s a little cold, but I’ve got a cup of tea with me. Peach is still sleeping. He’s tired since we traveled on Friday night. He can’t see the sunrise today, but maybe tomorrow.

Evening

What a great day it’s been today, my goodness. I think we both needed that. Peach’s leg was going surprisingly well today so we went on a little hike in the mountains. I ended up taking a lot more pictures than I thought I would. We had lunch at this quaint little inn. They had amazing gravy, I’ve never tasted gravy that sublime. Peach ate quite a lot too. Seeing his appetite back is so heartening. He said we should grab one more meal there before we go back tomorrow.

There was so much to do in town. So many shops, places to snack, historical monuments to learn about. Was there some kind of festival going on that we didn’t know about? There were games as well, the kind you’d see in fairs. We played some. There was a shooting one. I like shooting, and for some reason, I decided that I’d like to get him a stuffed animal toy. Silly me, I forgot those games are almost definitely rigged. Peach told me to try shooting one a different, indirect way and it actually worked. Won a delightfully rotund bear. I gave it to him. He smiled. It reminded me of when we were young. I think it made my heart flutter.

Dinner was fun as well. A restaurant with a live singer. The ambiance was perfect. I knew it would be perfect the moment I saw the doors. They were framed with filigree, and for some reason, I fully trusted it would be excellent. Isn’t that silly? Silly but delightful. We talked for so long. About everything and nothing, just like we used to. We both had wine, though I made sure not to take too much. A slow song came on, and I asked if he wanted to dance. He gave me a jokingly skeptical look, like I was some stranger he’d been hoping would ask, but he had to play it cool and aloof. Cheeky cheeky man. “Why, yes, handsome sir, I would never pass up the chance to have a dance with someone as splendid as you”, I think I said. We danced, and he was so close. I was so happy in a way I haven’t been in a while, yet I didn’t realise until that moment.I really didn’t. There were butterflies in my stomach all over again. My word, how silly. We went back to the hotel, and we talked while I massaged his leg. It had been a long day, and while I tried to keep him off his feet as much as possible, it was just one of those occasions where we couldn’t help but be out and about, almost chasing the next experience. He’s asleep now, and I’m watching him while I write this.

I love you so much, Peach Pie. God, I love you.
