VINTAGE CON SKETCHES: More anime & manga commissions from 2000 (or so)!

I strongly suspect that this illo of Deunan & Briareos from Shirow's Appleseed was already been posted here years ago, but I can't say for sure. Worked out quite nicely, regardless.
Behold, the titular heroine from the 90s anime Iria: Zeiram the Animation as designed by Masakazu Katsura, an old chara-design influence of mine.
Prrrrobably a commissioner's OC (Original Character), but I'm far from certain 'bout that.
A li'l Rouroni Kenshin for y'all! I'm a bit of a fan of the (semi-)recent live-action movies, but I gotta say the anime never did much for me; character designs didn't work for me, alas. (Even though Kenshin has a similar "dandelion hair" design to my latter-day versions of Dirty Pair's Kei, come to think of it.)

UPDATE: In fact, turns out that Wednesday's post will feature the first set of page roughs from fantasy comic and digital-art test project The Chaste and the Chained. Huzzah!

2023-03-07 21:32:06 +0000 UTCMakes sense that Deunan would be thicker, in Adam Warren continuity her and Briareos are in the ice cream business and presumably Deunan got in the habit of sampling. (See Dirty Pair: I Honestly Hate You, where the pint carton of Kei's favorite ice cream that Yuri swipes is branded Briareos and Deunan)

2023-03-06 15:09:59 +0000 UTCIria had such an amazing derriere in that movie it's hard to capture. Always loved how her hunter suit and armor still managed to look really practical as well. And wow, there's more visible signs of the affection between them in that Deunan & Briareos shot than in a lot of the canon ones! Much cake on Deunan, too!
