VINTAGE CON SKETCHES: A set of DIRTY PAIR commissions from 1995-99!
Added 2024-08-19 13:00:10 +0000 UTCWellp, I'm now scraping the bottom of the barrel for photocopies of old Con Sketches, as these were among the few remaining Dirty Pair commissions yet to be scanned:
Behold, a bridal lingerie version of Shasti; surprised I didn't go for a more direct version of the famous Herb Alpert album cover, which this piece seems to be obliquely referencing. (Then again, 'twas a lot tougher to dig up photoref at a moment's notice in 1995.) Lordy loo!
Next up, Kei and little friend:
A fun enough piece, I think. Next up, a slightly puzzling sketch of Y*ri:
...'cause I can't tell if the shading is photoreferenced or if I was riffing off some Adam Hughes illo I've forgotten. Mysterious!
And finally, my version of the Lovely Angels target a dire threat indeed:
Not a bad composition, gotta say, though I'm unsurprisingly none too fond of the hyperstylized chara design approach I was using almost 30 years ago. Go figure!
I've dug up enough photocopies for at least one more Vintage Con Sketches post next month, but I'm afraid this Patreon feature will soon be ending. (Oh, well.)

2024-08-19 14:59:33 +0000 UTCNice stuff. Speaking of con sketches, any con plans? Just did Otakon myself- it's grown very nearly exactly 100x since your time (43K attendence last year which probably grew this year vs 450 when you guested in '95).
