Behold, another recent "conventionless con sketch" done partly for a Patron art request but mainly to try out (and time out) my old Con Sketch art approach. The concept requested was a variation on the famous "DiD" scene from Marvel's Spider-Woman back in the 70s, with the nonpowered Hangman inexplicably bedamseling our heroine:
The request was for the Hangman to discard poor Jessica's costume before carrying her off, so I worked up the following rough sketch in Clip Studio Paint (I think, though the image looks like it might've spawned from the scan of an initial analog sketch):
Then I printed out the damsel figure, transferred the pose to Bristol board, and worked up the following underdrawing:
...then inked the piece with Sharpies and a PITT Artist Pen for fine details:
..and colored it with not just two but three colored pencils, breaking with my usual Con Sketch format a bit:
After scanning the piece, I though the cups on the "bra pasties" might work better filled in with black, as I saw occasionally with images I dug up online:
Whoops, forgot the bra cups on the lower figure, so I went back and filled those in:

TBH, I sincerely doubt the character would wear such undies under the suit, but what the heck; this isn't a "serious" illustration, after all.
Note that I did consider such a "discard the superdamsel's costume" concept with the notably similar Empowered vol. 10 story featuring the obnoxious Chevalier Noir:
...but the fact that Emp wears nothing underneath her finicky supersuit rendered that idea nonviable to me.
Anyhoo!
Artistically, once again the results were acceptable, but the worktime expenditure was far from acceptable, as (counting scanning and Photoshoppery) the illo took almost five work hours to complete. That's rough, folks, considering that I used to crank out four or five such pieces per day at conventions whilst signing and chatting all day; then again, those pre-COVID con sketches were rarely anywhere near this detailed, true. If I'm gonna do any more much pieces in the future, they'll need to take no more than three work hours (and less would be preferable, obvsly).
Wellp, that's all for today, folks; now, back to scripting dialogue for The Chaste and the Chained issue #2!
NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: No idea, TBH, but something should be coming up in the next M/W/F slot. Let's find out together, shall we?
