DISTRESSED DAMSELS: Some WORK STAGES on an in-progress EMPOWERED sketch set!

Time for a work-in-progress Empowered illo based on a $20-tier art request, in which the Patron suggested poor Emp bedamseled by DC Comics' fishnet-clad magician Zatanna. A week or so ago, I worked up an initial analog pencil sketch in which an unseen Zatanna (or generic equivalent) was magically unleashing a series of scarves with her characteristic "lettered backwards" spell-speech pattern:

Then I worked up a different pencil sketch actually depicting Emp's magician tormentor whipping said scarves out of her top hat:

I scanned the rough, opened it in Clip Studio Paint on the PC, and started inking the piece on the ol' Wacom Cintiq with some of the inking tools (a modified Turnip pen and the Darker pencil brush) I used on that recent test page from The Chaste and the Chained:

And here are the in-progress inks alone:

The white-line-based rendering on Emp's supersuit definitely shows promise, though the inking tools became uncooperative on the Cintiq when I moved on to her face and hair. Looks like I'll be doing my final inking on the ol' iPad from here on, as that seems to deliver a better experience on detail work; I could still work up the initial underdrawing on the Wacom, though.

Anyhoo, not sure if I'll return to this illo as a further digital-art test, or leave it as is; in any event, I'm now returning to work on the next page from that test story for The Chaste and the Chained, which has been showing a decent level of progress so far. Yay?

NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: No idea, TBH, but something should be coming up in the next M/W/F slot. Let's find out together, shall we?

Well this is just lovely -- the inking and detailing in the little lighting effects in those inks look stunning. Seeing how you play around with the new tools and programs has made a lot of these projects very interesting on both technical and artistic levels.
