UPDATE on digital-art testing, including s'more LIFE DRAWING & an illo from THE CHASTE AND THE CHAINED!

Bit of a grab-bag post today, as we'll take a look at various recent forays into Clip Studio Paint experimentation.

First off is an illo from fantasy test project The Chaste and the Chained, based on an amusing  $20-tier art request for the Elf Mage driven to jealousy by another woman interacting with "her" Paladin. I was using the piece as yet another ink test with the "Pigman Mycon 1" brush from the Frenden brush pack:

...but I rapidly became disenchanted with the inks, as I slammed headlong into the limitations of the brush, or at least my own limitations in handling it. I can't quite hatch or feather with the tool the way I'd like to, alas; out of frustration, I wound up abandoning the piece entirely, despite a promising start. Perhaps I'll revisit it someday...?

Here's the illo's underdrawing, with the faux blue line layer effect turned off:

Next up, another unsuccessful test saw me importing my beloved Design Pencil brush from the iOS version of CSP into the PC version of CSP; interestingly, the iOS version is indeed different from the default PC Design Pencil in several perceptible ways, as I found from the "squiggly marks" in the following sketch set:

Alas, I can't get the imported Design Pencil to replicate the pleasing performance it displays via Apple Pencil on the iPad, but testing and tinkering will continue. And yeahp, those were all Gen13-related sketches. Golly! (Big Spenders of the $10 & $20 tiers, stand by for a more finished Magical Drama Queen Roxy piece on Oct. 31st.)

And here's another dashed-off CSP Wacom sketch set, which features my visual notes replying to the first round of design sketches from yet another fantasy comic in development, one that I won't be drawing myself (thank the Gods):

More on this mysterious project and its artist later, but I can tell you that this concept predates any other fantasy dealie you've seen, and in fact predates my debut on Patreon altogether.  This pitch was originally worked up as my own take on the burgeoning "fantasy RPG-based action comedy"  genre 7-8 years ago, and has languished unseen on my hard drive until quite recently. Huzzah!

Finally, let's close out this rambling post with a spot o' recent Life Drawing:

As I flail wildly around with both trying to develop a viable digital workflow and getting some writing-only gigs off the ground, I've decided to try to return to a semi-regular routine of frequent if not daily Life Drawing and/or sketching from imagination; yeah, well, we'll see how long that effort lasts. Anyhoo, not an auspicious start, as I struggled with the inks on that Sean Connery sketch based on left-over photoref from that "Rose & Lily vs. Bond" illo I worked on back in May.

Some of this potential semi-daily stuff will be Patreon-exclusive, or at least seen here first; the rest will be posted on social media such as Instagram and the like. (BTW, I am over on Blue Sky, for whatever that's worth.)

NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: Time for another dose of Distressed Damsel content on both Monday (for the $5+ tiers) and Tuesday (for the $10+ tiers), folks! Monday's post will likely feature some recent, DiD-riffic comic layouts from either The Chaste and the Chained or Rose & Lily, which might be worked up into further digital-art tests if I get the chance this weekend. Yay!
