He has a great best seller Born A Crime (he’s from South Africa, his mom is black and his father Swiss). He was born during Apartheid and his mere existence was illegal. His father wasn’t in the picture after he was 2 or 3 and he was raised by his mother and grandmother. When they moved in with his grandmother in the “Homelands”, basically Apartheid prison camps they told everyone he was an Albino to protect him from the government. He has a lot of incredibly funny material from what had to have been traumatic. He has a unique take on US and world issues given where he came from and having lived through a country that was able to begin healing racial issues by admitting mistakes made and working towards solutions together. As long as American refuses to do the same, there’s no hope for positive change.
