Oh gosh Newspeak creeped me out as well as the government erasing your very existence and thoughtcrime. Aw man that book creeped me out. That and Animal Farm. Orwell had quite a few good things to say.

2017-10-20 10:47:24 +0000 UTCThe problem with Newspeak is that it builds on the Sapir-Whorfe hypothesis, that language controls thought and that if you can't say it, you can't think it. We know that isn't true. Bit I agree that 1984 is a great novel (and it's interesting that one of the best horror novels in the English history is utterly devoid of anything supernatural).
