SYL early bird: Avatar Aang!

In this episode: why people tend to forget about Aang, how love is a sacrifice to the needs of the Avatar, and why Uncle Iroh was right all along.

Also, someone has come and fixed our phone line fault! This episode took three hours to upload, but maybe the final version will be quicker! MAYBE EVEN UNDER AN HOUR!

Well. I live and hope.

0.4 Mbps upload speed, you guys. I despair.

I never noticed just how much centre framing they do in that show until my face was ALL OVER IT. Thank you, I will definitely be more careful in future. :)

Loved the episode but with your face in the middle and lots of the avatar visuals using the center there it was a very distracting “Your face is in the way” effect. It might be something to look out for in future when picking clips or deciding on angles.

Agape tends to be along the lines of self-giving love, and charity. I guess non-attachment in the sense of not demanding love in return is common to both, but love without attachment has always seemed a tricky concept to me. I guess because it seems a bit too Yoda to me 'oh don't mourn those who have passed into the Force, luminous they are, or something'. I think it's bad to be attached to people or things to the extent that you harm them, but love without attachment is kind of a foreign concept to me. Or maybe the way you love objects or sunrises. You appreciate them, but they come and they go and that's OK. It just seems a bit impersonal when it comes to people.

Cabbage Man, If you want a lesson in the dangers of attachment to the physical in Avatar look no further than Cabbage Man

I love Aang. I think the fandom over looks him which is a shame because he’s a great character. He’s my favorite male character from the show and Toph Bei Fong is my favorite female character.

Do you think there's a connection between this "love without attachment" and the Christian concept of agape?
