Dealing With Toxic Fandoms (A SYL Extra)

I got an interesting Tumblr ask and thought, well, actually, this would make a pretty good video topic! And so here we are.

Happy almost new year, everyone!

Good advice! I love that you got a title-drop in at 1.08.

Makes perfect sense to me; just so long as I don't need to find my torch and pitchfork. I think a lot of women are coming to that same conclusion. It's just a shame that it's always the women who end up being forced off platforms.

This is a great message - and those are great earrings! I've been incredibly lucky in my fandom encounters in that they've always been really positive and fandom has only affected my life in helpful and empowering ways.

I’m glad you enjoyed the video :) And I know what you mean about fanartists, I read Girls Next Door on Deviantart and it’s SO beautiful now. I mean it was always good but it’s been a lot of years and now the artist is amazing. Happy new year!

Hey! Well...possibly, but not in my case. I’m generally not popular enough for anyone to bother. I just decided to take my own advice: when you’re not having fun any more, stop. And I wasn’t having fun, so I stopped. :) Twitter has turned into a compulsive time suck rather than something I genuinely enjoyed spending time on, so I’ve deleted it. For now at least! (I appreciate the thought though, thank you)

Are the nazis out hunting people on Twitter again? I've noticed a lot of women deleting their twitters and it's kind of concerning.

This is definitely something I wish to take to heart as this new year approaches. The year is too long and life is too short for me to stay angry at something that may never change. Thank you for the advice! Something I thoroughly enjoy is seeing someone's fanart improve after so many weeks or months of posting their work and hearing the positive feedback. :)
