2020-10-09 21:16:18 +0000 UTCI found your channel about a month ago and I've been steadily work through content. I wish I found this channel sooner, but algorithms........ I've really enjoyed your channel particularly because of your background in theater. I also have a background in theater, and I particularly like your content because you understand that stage/ film fighting is there to help progress the story, not to show realistic fighting. I have a similar viewpoint but from science. I'm a science teacher who enjoys talking about how science works in fiction. In storytelling, it is more important that your magic system, super power, or whatever is internally consistent, rather than being scientifically accurate. Science can help your writing be consistent, but I'm not expecting all writing to obey every law of science. That's why we call it "Fiction". I have a lot of writer friends who essentially "have never seen an audience." Meaning they love writing but only value the detailed part of it, (world building, scientific accuracy, etc.) and have little idea how to engage an audience or tell a compelling story. Hence, your channel is a breath of fresh air, because you understand that these details are there to promote the story.

You were so very nervous and anxious (and we were too watching the beginning of the video). It has really blossomed into a success story over the past few months for you and that is awesome! I definitely recommend that all new subscribers should do a binge watch from your first episode up to the latest (and you don't even have to be injured to do it, haha). It's fun to watch the progression and the content is great. I personally really love the history of fanfic miniseries documentary. I would love to see a history of stage combat done in the same vein. Congratulations, Jill!

Meeting more new people is also something to look forward to. I imagine we probably would have seen more of your stage combat friends if not for COVID basically shutting down social gatherings. I feel like you probably planned on having more active participation with your stage combat training than just analyzing fights from other things. Not that those haven’t been nice, of course, but I’d kinda like to see you get some use out of that, not to mention I’m sure you’d have a blast doing it as well. I really did enjoy your Kate and Petruchio scene and more of that would be exciting, at some point. 100k subscribers, though, I guess not all things COVID have been awful. I’m glad that so many folks have discovered your content that we long-term fans have enjoyed over the years. Assuming they’ve gone back and watched the older stuff, I mean. They really should if they haven’t.
