Wednesday Addams what the heck kind of fencing club is this?

2022-12-10 00:48:44 +0000 UTCI took this scene as a prison film trope "make an entrance" scene, given the way that her entry into the school leaned with Morticia's "no escape to the relatives", the principal's "no escape to the town", and Wednesday's "can't hold me" comments. I had been told by friends this was a girl detective genre movie, and I had been very excited to see an Addams's lens on a prison film AND girl detective for at least a few episodes. Love me that cross-genre goodness. I was quite pleased with the series as a whole and hope it is followed by 'Wednesday's Summer Vacation', wherein art-boy's father doesn't show to pick him up and has possibly missed his last performance in San Francisco, Addams family U-turning to pick him up (A potential orphan, how delightful?), which leads to visiting with the werewolves, and then possibly the sirens from either a distress call or non-response to her roommates' texts. And, of course, her stalker. If all of that wrapped into some new common threat and the next school year, so much the better.

Context is key... this is an Addams Family series where Wednesday is going to a school that embraces the same philosophy as her family. If this had been done back in the day when she invoked military rules I would have expected the teacher to turn around and hand them each a broad sword.

2022-12-06 21:54:57 +0000 UTCXD I don't work in safety (do work law) but I don't know how many tv shows/ films I have watched and just thought... wow how is that place still open ... how are the parents ok with this ... my mum would have killed someone by now if I had gone there ... who are the adults in this place ... that's a negligence claim waiting to happen. it's actually quite funny XD.

2022-12-06 18:19:43 +0000 UTCI largely agree with Paul and would say that part of the interaction with the teacher, and his passivity, is attempting to illuminate how Wednesday cows adults in general. Later on when she runs into adults she can't do this to it's a notable change but up to this point she's basically run roughshod over everyone in her way, starting with her parents.
