For the more mature side of BookTok :D

In my mid-fifties here and have both bifocals and separate reading glasses now. For when your time comes- Bifocals are great (though they do take a bit of getting used to) but I highly recommend getting separate reading glasses for work on the computer. Sitting at a desk, trying to peer through the bottom section of my glasses while I type gives me neck strain. : )

2024-09-22 18:56:07 +0000 UTCGiven a significant amount of the power used to create, maintain and run e-book technology is from coal, I would argue that they are deader tree books... plus I don't appreciate the insinuation I'm old. I mean I am, but did you have to go and remind me? *Victor Meldrew moment over*

2024-09-04 22:51:27 +0000 UTCWell I thought the typeface was plenty large enough; I read half of it //without// putting my glasses on, but hardbacks do tend to use larger typefaces, so... yes, you young cheese, that would be an excellent idea. My future does not include varifocals, I already ruled them out as a comfortable option, plus now, when I can't pick between different frames, I can just choose them all, and give them different lenses! Yeay! Capitalism!

2024-09-03 22:55:29 +0000 UTCWell, libraries do carry "large print" editions of the hardcover books, separate from the "normal font" editions. Just a thought?

2024-08-27 00:24:12 +0000 UTCYes, font size matters. When selling at book events, I will offer my trilogy omnibus but warn people "This is 10.5 point font, rather than the 12 pt of the separate books." Anyone older than I am doesn't get the omnibus.

2024-08-26 23:24:32 +0000 UTCIt's an interesting thought, should all new dead tree books have larger fonts because they are more likely to be purchased by those with older eyes?

2024-08-26 21:00:09 +0000 UTClarge print editions are definitely a thing.
