2024-10-13 18:14:09 +0000 UTCI do love me a katana. Next to my media reproductions, katanas are the swords I own the most of. And own the most function versions thereof.

2024-10-07 21:40:00 +0000 UTCGet them restored/refurbished maybe? I could have a good look at the wakizashi (bit short for a katana), but I'm in the wrong country for you :P

2024-10-07 11:20:23 +0000 UTCold German + Japanese weapons in UK give me strong "spoils of war" vibe.

2024-10-07 03:01:56 +0000 UTCI liked the cleaner of the bayonets. It's very difficult to find period correct bayonets to go with historic rifles, which I'll admit is an American pursuit for legal reasons. Solingen is well known for high quality steel products for various military pursuits. Thank you for showing us your loot!

2024-10-06 18:12:26 +0000 UTCMy grandfather was an officer in the army in ww2 and was stationed in China, as an officer he he was given katanas by the prisoners upon surrendering. Could be the same thing here, as well as someone stationed in Germany getting the other swords maybe

2024-10-06 17:01:48 +0000 UTCIt's hard to tell because it was not in the screen long enough, but judging from the handle, the katana looks more like a wakizashi to me. Worn in pairs, a katana (roughly 1m long) would be accompanied by a wakizashi with about 60cm of length. It may be my favorite out of that bag, but I'd like to see more of the fittings, especially the tsuba (disk-shaped guard), which were often quite elaborate.
