Thank you so much for supporting my work! It's because of you that I'm able to focus on this project instead of having to do a bunch of other stuff to support myself!

A Tale of Two Rulers 156

You know this is a bit funny if you consider Zelda is a reincarnation of the goddess Hylia...haaah. Wonder if that will play into this story? :P

This page was beautiful ^_^

I love Zelda's expression in panel 3, it's so expressive of her attitude and thoughts at the moment. It combines a heavy skepticism with a dead serious look - 'either this is fraud, or evil'. And I love that that's the conclusion Zelda has reached, in direct opposition to Ganon - where Ganon seem to be deterministic, saying the Godesses decide everything so it's best to respect them, Zelda reached the opposite conclusion - if the goddesses exist (so she already doesn't believe in determinism), they're evil, and deserving of no respect. I love it, because it also reflects their pieces of the Triforce - Zelda's understanding is an understanding that comes from wisdom - from assuming that if you have power, you should use it to make life better, whereas Ganon's analysis comes from a power viewpoint - if someone has power, no matter if they're frauds or evil, it's best to respect them. Also, it's amazing that Zelda got straight into Epicureanism in such a short but powerful summation. I am totally behind an Epicurean Zelda. I guess that might make Ganon somewhat Stoic?

I am surpised i would have thought the roles reversed and Ganonndof being the one who doesnt believe

"If God or gods are real, why do they allow so much suffering?" A question as old as mankind itself. Again, another way this comic is distinguishing itself from other fantasies by have a character ask these kind of questions. I would go on, but then I would go on and on talking about the tropes of fantasy worlds like last week. Brilliant page! Can't for more of this discussion next week!

I believe this is called a crisis of faith.

Great work. How far back does Zelda remember and how far back do her books go? From Skyward Sword it is implied that the Golden Goddesses don't believe that they should or need to intervene in most cases and when they do it is world changing and frequently world-shattering. They left the TriForce behind and limited its use to mortals so mortals could have the power to shape their world and stop tragedies. They also created a peaceful and happy world before they left and entrusted its care to Hylia. Things did not go bad until Demise broke out of the earth. Deep down Zelda could be holding onto resentment Hylia has for being left in charge of the surface and then having to deal with Demise without having access to the TriForce. All those things Zelda is complaining about was the responsibility of Hylia and, as the reincarnation, Zelda's. Ganondorf has the Sword of Demise and a part of Demise is locked in the Master Sword(Did Rinku ever get it out of the water?). It could be assumed that the Golden Goddesses wanted mortals to learn how to do things themselves and not rely on the gods. How much of Zelda's perception is based on traditions built up by mortals? I never recall the Golden Goddesses asking for worship. It just kind of happened and the religion evolved over thousands of years. We also don't know if there are other entities like them. They made the world and left behind some of their powers with only occasional interventions. The only power level they can use might be their high level abilities and the mortals and lesser gods are the only beings that can resolve those issues on a scale smaller than the whole world. They have nukes but no hammers.

Ok ok, I can see where Zelda's skeptisism comes from, and considering her character I think her hating on the goddesses fits in this universe!
