Oh wow, what a month !
I feel like November flew by. I just opened my Etsy at the beginning of November and I've had so much traffic there, I was not expecting it at all and I'm so thankful ! I've sold a lot of my Yule Cat cards, so much that the english version one is sold out ! But fear not, I'm getting them reprinted with an updated look. They are going to look so much nicer :) I doubt I'll sell more tho this year, since it's almost Christmas and they probably won't get delivered to people in time before the holidays but I'll be ready next year with a full stock!
For the calendar this month.. I decided to go with a artic, northern lights scenery vibe for this month. I just found it really peaceful and beautiful. I didn't really want to go with the whole traditional "Christmas theme" with a bunch of red, green and Santa Claus haha.
I'm just not really very hyped for Christmas when I think of it really. Don't get me wrong, I do love the holiday and I would never not celebrate it but I don't really like to decorate everything with red/white/green stuff and listen to 'All I want for Christmas is you' songs.
I rather try to go for more of a 'winter theme' and cosy decorations when I buy me some Christmas decor. My favourite Christmas decorations that I own currently are my little Yule cat figurine and the Grýla stocking sock I found at a second hand store. I also have a few Yule goats from ikea, how very Scandinavian of me haha.
I love the holiday season. One of my favourite Christmas traditions is when my extended family go all together to my grandfather's cabin to get a tree from the forest that grows on his land. However, I doubt that will be possible this year, for the first time ever! Covid has been spiking up in Iceland again unfortunately and I don't think the social restrictions will be eased this month :( But that calls for more relaxing evenings with the family, watching a movie with a hot beverage.
What are your favourite traditions for Christmas?
Personal life update:
It finally happened! I just bought an apartment ! WOO! I'm so adult now, I can't. My boyfriend and I found this really cute and cosy little attic-loft-apartment in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland. The ceilings go from being very low in some areas (around 1 meter) to really high, like 4 meters high. Those kind of apartments here are cheaper since they are basically attics, which is fine for us. It's a bit small tho, but it's a two bedroom and one living room so the larger bedroom will be an art studio! We are both artist so of-course the bigger bedroom will be used as a studio. I had finical help from my parent's to make this happen, we couldn't have done that by ourselves, it takes years to save up for one! We choose to buy a place right now because the renting business in Iceland is horrid and greedy. It's very expensive to rent so buying place is far better in the long run. That also means, we can paint and decorate however we want ! We'll get the place in February, exciting stuff ! I'm already looking at purple paint for the walls haha. Trying not get carried away tho.
I'm still going to the physical therapist for my hands, I really think it's helping a lot, I haven't had any stabbing pain for weeks now but my hand feels a bit weak still. I'll just keep working at it!
Anyways,
Thank you for the support! I really appreciate it and I hope you like this month's calendar. I really enjoying making it. Hope you'll have a happy holiday, wonderful Christmas and a great new year! <3
