Taskmaster - S6 E5 - H.

Comments

Hahahaha, I think everyone does! xD

Mandy Cane Lane

The tasks were not great I'll agree but there was lots of Alice Levine and that'll do for me 😍🥰 (I have a mega crush on her!)

Lee Gridley

Click the link at the bottom of the description! 🫶🏻🌻

Mandy Cane Lane

Hmmm WHY ARENT THEY WORKING IM SCARED😢😢😢😢

Josh sloan

Only sometimes, so may I tap 'Y' repeatedly?

Mandy Cane Lane

Ahh, the tasks mostly being tiebreakers explains a bit. Lol Hopefully the series picks up near the end!

Mandy Cane Lane

🐇🦞🥚🫏🦒 yep that was somewhat underwhelming, as you say. Also as you say, "it had its moments. But you, you are the bees knees! (Do bees have knees?) Please press 'y' to confirm.

Feathers McGraw

Hey Mandy! 2:44 “Does the head change to match Greg’s appearance?” Don’t you recall your own professional judgement? “It doesn’t really look like Greg at all” - Mandy, S02E01 🤣 I think you critiqued the bone structure quite harshly too. The same trophy looks about as close to series 1 Greg as it does to series 16 Greg. lol @ your reference to series 16, not many people have seen that yet 🤫 It comes out in September. 4:35 Greg: Alex: “I support apartheid” - the 1948-1994 racial segregation under the all-white government of South Africa. Not sure if you were blissfully ignorant, trying to style that one out til the bit was over, or you just didn’t find Greg outing Alex as an open advocate of racism funny 🤔 6:43 Asim: “I’ve become a vegan” - that *wasn’t* random at all 🤭 10:55 What comes to mind when I think of sturdy? It’s definitely an adjective I’ve used for a table, but they’re way outnumbered by all the rickety tables out there! I did like Tim’s idea of something tiny, although his was more “indestructible”. To me, sturdy implies supportive, immovable, rooted even. Something you’d depend on without question to support your weight. So how about a huge tree from the back garden? 😀 No use bringing it to the studio though, it ain’t sturdy no mo’ if you dig it up! 11:41 My uncle would have me count all the weathervanes as a child, when we were out and about in my home town. It’s amazing how many there actually were, when you’re keeping an eye out for them, they were everywhere! 12:36 Asim: “How long is a piece of string?” Hadn’t noticed that before, but it looks like Asim guessed the task without opening the envelope! 13:35 Greg: “How long is *a* piece of string? Nice and simple innit?” 14:13 The whole point of the English idiom “how long is a piece of string?” is that any answer will do, there is no definite answer. A piece, is an unspecified length! Cut up the string, present any tiny piece, and declare its length, with a fair amount of accuracy, bonus points for cutting it to the same length as another object in the caravan with a known length. 16:58 Russel: “I’ll get her back” an image of a divorced uncle, living in a caravan. 20:20 Alice gave a weak defence of her method there, you gotta be persuasive with those studio arguments! (First gotta believe in them yourself though, Alice, eh?) I’m sorry, but if you cut the piece of string, it’s now two pieces of string of different length. The scoring was a sham I tell you! 26:02 Actually the contestants also film many far simpler tiebreaker tasks, and some turn out so well they make it into the show as a proper task. The “Pull this tablecloth off the table” task definitely feels like a tiebreaker task, and some YouTube comments confirm it. Also those other tasks you mentioned sound like tiebreakers! 29:28 Roger Federer - the world’s #1 Tennis champion. 40:53 Snooker - a turn based pot-the-balls type game like pool, with different potting rules and played on a much bigger table, the accuracy needed for a full table length shot is a great deal more, especially if you want to position the balls well after the shot! It’s quite popular here, with snooker halls across the country. The UK has hosted the world snooker championships since its inception in 1927. 48:00 “Where’d they get pipes from?” My pet theory is they stock the storage unit with items cleared for use by the tasks, so they’d have thought, what are good trickshot props? Aha, pipes! It’s a me-a, Mario! Yeah, not the best episode 😕 Lets just call it a mid series slump, on to the next! G

You have never seen this table my friend.... Lol. I guess it all depends on how high Greg is falling from and how much he ate that day.. 😅

Mandy Cane Lane

Mandy I'm not sure your sturdy table would've survived Greg falling on it from height as well as what the others suggested (egg aside)

Matthew Beckford

I am so proud of Tim Vine doing so well with his measuring lobster! 😅

Mandy Cane Lane

Of course, why would Spacedone lie about something like that? Not the same, but there was also an early 90s British sitcom about Mr Hitler called "Heil Honey, I'm Home".

Jeffrey44

Hehe

Rusty Dog

This is why it's dangerous to tell someone they're good at puns 🤣

Squeesher

Eggciting episode. Snooker is my other fave sport next to Formula 1. I guess it's not as popular over that side of the pond. An egg is sturdy too. If you can keep it stood upwards, it can support around 21kg before it cracks (something like that). I remember seeing a test where they put 21 bags of sugar on one before it collapsed (1 bag here weighs 1kg). And that test where they had to pull the cloth from under the eggs. They should have hard boiled the eggs, that would have made it harder. If you spin a raw egg it barely turns much. But spin a hard boiled egg and it spins like a top. Tim's string measuring idea was fishy, but he clawed it back using that lobster :) Good one!

Rusty Dog

👀🤭 Even Russell was mad 😅

Mandy Cane Lane

Interesting 🤔, thank you for the info!

Mandy Cane Lane

Lol, you guys are all so silly! 🤪

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahaha! Ok... maybe I was a bit loose with the word "owned". I have used about 6 in my lifetime and they all sucked 😃

Mandy Cane Lane

Haha! I wasn't aware. Very accurate indeed!!

Mandy Cane Lane

Ohh! I really like this idea! I am extremely limited by space and recources, but there is most definitely stuff I could try!

Mandy Cane Lane

Yeah, but I can't visualize it as easy. Maybe if I just visualize lobsters instead?

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahaha!

Mandy Cane Lane

There is a Shakespeare Sitcom?? 👀

Mandy Cane Lane

Everyone's a critic...

Squeesher

You're a monster!

Jeffrey44

Yup, those were the implied jokes. Gold star!

Squeesher

More Liza bs with the scoring of that snooker task lol

Ryan W.

I find your comment sexist when it implies that women can't be trusted with step ladders, xenophobic when you described Argentina as a strange place and transphobic when you assumed Mandy Cane Lane's gender.

Jeffrey44

I didn't even know women were allowed step ladders. Argentina is such a strange place

Squeesher

Hey, the gold Greg's Head trophy looked the same in Season 15 as it did in this episode. I had to check, but yeah it's just the same.

Squeesher

How many step ladders have you owned? You make it sound like you have a extensive experience of them but I reckon you are just showing off. I bet you haven't owned more than about 3 or 5. Am I right?

Jeffrey44

I don't know if you are aware, when Little Alex Horne was painting that cardboard box red, it was so he could pay homage to the character Mr Strong (or Mr. Strong as an American would say) from the popular Mr Men and Little Miss book series (or Mr. Men and Little Miss book series as an American would say). Look! You can see his inspiration and purchase the book here. It's only $4.99 (+$42.14 shipping to Argentina) https://www.amazon.com/Mindy_Cone_Line/dp/084317501X/ I'm sure you agree, it was a very accurate and respectful tribute to the strong man.

Jeffrey44

I've been thinking this for a few episodes now and i wanna see you do some tasks set by patrons or something! Like, how many countries you can name in a minute... Write a poem about some random topic.. Draw a picture left handed (or right if you're a lefty) or if they get tasks in the show you could do at your desk there. That'd be fun

SynphamyMusic

Don't give up the fight, Mini. You are doing great work. You might be right that 90% of people say Haitch but imagine how many it would be saying it if you didn't correct people. You do the math!

Jeffrey44

Also, Roger Federer: Famous Swiss Tennis Legend ;)

Maik Kellerhals

Also i realy don't understand the imperial system. It's not a system at all, it's just arbitrary. I'm swiss, we're metric ALL THE WAY!

Maik Kellerhals

From feet to meters, just divide by 3. Unless you are a rocket scientist...

Maik Kellerhals

Mandy, I've been railing against "Haitch" since childhood. It used to be a regional pronunciation of the letter the dictionary confirms to be spelt, and pronounced, "Aitch". Particularly in Ireland and North West England as far as I can tell. As a schoolboy in South East England, maybe 5% of people pronounced it "Haitch". By my late teens, maybe 25%. At this point, it's more like 90%. I don't know why, but Haitch has taken over. I've had to let it go. 😅

Tony Mingoia

Re: Liza Tarbuck, you can also see her the David Mitchell sitcom about Shakespeare, which is called 'Upstart Crow', in which she plays the wife of Shakespeare (played by David Mitchell).
