Notice: Charge Up Front
Added 2018-01-04 02:21:47 +0000 UTCHey folks! So a long, long time ago, I brought up that I was considering 'Charge Up Front'. I wasn't in love with the idea, and I'm still not - but I'm sick of being inundated with fraudulent bot accounts. At this point, most new pledges that come round are bots in disguise, and I'm just tired of having to do the manual process of removing and blocking these accounts every month.
This will have zero effect on existing patrons, unless one of you decides to increase your pledge amount during the month. I'll probably look at implementing this at the start of next month.
If any of you has any thoughts regarding this, go ahead and let me know. It's open to discussion!
Thanks,
Chibi

Well let me know if something comes up and I'll make sure it's taken care of. I don't want anyone upset over this change, I just want to stop worrying about bots!

After that payments will resume on the normal monthly cycle. The reason I have resisted thus far is because there is a potential for someone to subscribe to a creator at the end of the month, for which they are charged immediately... And then they are charged again when the first of the month rolls around. I don't *like* the way that works, but it's kind of the way the system works. My plan is to put a notification on my page for new patrons, and just make it abundantly clear that if this system screws them over, I'd be happy to refund them to make it square.

I honestly don't care about when you charge me, but some of your patreons may chafe at having to pay at different parts of the month for different people.
