Ah "Butterfly Follies" or as I like to call it, the River and Marco show episode. Seriously those two absolutely steal the show with their one liners and interaction for most of this episode. Love River's near-irrational hate for the Pie Folk considering he overspent trying to win a boom box, I can picture that entire scene in my head so clearly it's not even funny. Overall, I love this episode, we get to see Star in action without needing a wand (a very nice upgrade), we get to see how Eclipsa has been handling things so far as Queen of Mewni which seems to basically be the mirror of Moon where now it is the Mewman's who are feeling marginalized and mosnters who hold all the cards (perpetuating the cycle of inequality is NOT the path to lasting piece Eclipsa, just saying...) and we get a super cute Starco moment where she pulls that photo out. I have to say I love how that photo means everything to Star right now as she has to be at an incredible low point having spent a couple of months fruitlessly searching for her mother. This episode is a bit of a sleeper. On the surface it seems fairly straight forward, but I love all the deeper themes running through it. You have the grumblings of an unhappy society, the self doubt Star must feel knowing she handed the keys to the kingdom to an unknown quantity. Moon's words of "If you wait to find out the truth for yourself it will be too late," may yet prove themselves true here. You have a glimpse into the future that Star is literally carrying like a talisman against the soul crushing dread that her mother may not ever be found. It's just a great pot of stew that all combines for a very memorable and fantastic episode. Can't wait to see the next one with you!

Interesting to see how the kingdom has changed now that Eclipsa’s in charge. I wonder if the Mewmans & Monsters can ever truly be united. I hope they can. River has always been one of my favourite characters, and he was particularly hilarious and adorable in this episode, with how worried he was about his wife, and sharing his pain with Star. That Pie Carnyvale reminded me of going to a con, lol. I always end up spending WAY more money at those things than I intend to, going in. XD Favourite Quotes: “How’s that feeling? Too tight?” – Jailer “No, no, you- you could go tighter.” – Prisoner “How about you let me keep doing my job, and you keep ruining everything for everybody” – Jailer (pretty much my feelings about politics) “You never said I was stupid.” – Tom “Well, not out loud.” – Star “Of course, I’m starving! I’m STARVING FOR MY WIFE!” – River “But do I hate the pie people… more than I love my wife??” – River “Narwhal Blast!” *Farts* – Stage Star “That’s not how the Narwhal Blast works!” – Star “I am still getting used to seeing the fruits of my labour… defile-ed.” - Lavabo “Sooo… how is… you?
