Ugh I am so torn about Eclipsa you guys! I loved her in The Pony Head Show, but seeing how badly she wants to free Globgor after everything he did is pretty concerning. This season is getting goooood!

It's back baby! Apparently writing in paragraphs gets you flagged as spam...

Patreon behaves squirrley on me from time to time, but I haven't lost any posts. I tend to write long ones in np++ first though to make sure I get the crlfs where I want them, then copy/paste into the text box. So I guess I'm not giving Patreon the opportunity to muck with my posts....

Also, this is getting ridiculous, I literally left a comment Wednesday night and now it's gone. Is anyone else having problems with comments disappearing or only posting like half of what it should?

Sooo where to even start with this episode... The Pony Head Show is a disaster, I know that is what they were going for, but lord almighty she really wears her welcome out on this one with me. I can't agree with you enough when you say that Pony Head really as just kind of devolved into a truly irredeemable character. Something I love though is how Meta this episode is. Star admitting that she always forgets how crazy Pony Head is had me laughing, and I have to say your line of, "Oh Kelly, its never gonna happen, girl," made me laugh as hard if not harder than the rest of that episode. A definite bright spot obviously had to be Eclipsa's performance for an extremely hostile mewman citizenry. It was a beautiful song, and the lyrics are very telling about her attitude going forward. All in all not one of my favorites, but there are enough salvageable moments in it that I don't outright hate it since it does a great job of bashing Pony Head for being awful. And Surviving the Spiderbites, I really love how elucidating this chapter is. We constantly see that Star's rather naive view of Eclipsa as just this innocent Queen who was punished for loving a monster being challenged and slowly dismantled. You can see the shine wearing off as the Spiderbites point out Globgore's atrocities to the point where Star, who had hitherto always had Eclipsa's back even against her own mother, lie to her face about still having some of the spellbook. If that isn't some raw disillusionment, I don't know what is... Another thing that I have to point out is that this episode really underlines the fact that Eclipsa is not a good queen. She is wholly absorbed with herself and her own wants and desires, rather than working for the betterment of the Butterfly Kingdom. It contrasts starkly with Star's own journey of self-improvement that began in season 3 when she swore to be a better princess. She's consistently tried to temper her own impulsive and "avoid all responsibility" behavior first by staying on Mewni to help rebuild, and then getting involved in the Monster rights cause, and now finally to trying to help prop up Eclipsa's foundering regime as her popularity nosedives even farther. It's really great contrast between the two characters who could have both turned out very similar had Star not had some wonderful influences in her life *Cough, Marco, Cough*.
