Aww reading your sentiments about leaving college made me feel all the feels! Definitively closing chapters in life is always such an emotional experience. Graduation, moving, break-ups are all so hard because you're conscious of the fact that something's ending, that a chapter is closing (VS sometimes life just shifts and moves so slowly that we don't notice the changes until later). But those people and those memories will ALWAYS be a part of you, and that's such a beautiful thing! <3

Yeah, it was nice to see warrior Marco again, even if he didn't have abs.

Good lord... These episodes... First of all, let's talk about the good episode of this duo. "The Knight-Shift" is one of my absolute favorites from season 4 as it really shows the deep connection between Star and Marco. She's there for him at his knighting, super excited that he'll be accepting his lifelong post so they can always be together only to have him dash her hopes on the merciless rocks of reality. Its been mentioned by other commenters and even myself in your earlier video, but those "squire-vows" were basically marriage vows. You don't reasonably expect your friends or even a boyfriend to "always be there no matter what for the rest of their lives. I think subconsciously Star made those vows have that specific wording because she knew in her heart that he's the one she wants to have in her life always, which is an absolutely adorable sentiment if I do say so myself. Another thing you mentioned that I think is very poignant and one of the major criticisms of season 4 is the unending relationship "will they/won't they" trope. It's getting to the point of fatigue here as we've had tons and tons of moments where either one or both of them should have found a modicum of courage to express their desire to be with the other. I'm in 100% agree meant with you that the perfect time to have TomStar end and Starco begin was after the season 3 finale. Marco admits their kiss to Tom, Tom can clearly see how devastated Star is when Marco gets drained and how when he's back again and she catches him that absolutely heart-melting moment of joy in star's voice when she says "I got you, Marco Diaz." Then you could have easily transitioned into the fourth season being about them letting feeling out their dynamic as a couple and all the adorable moments would have been just that much sweeter if they were dating. One final thing I have to say though after watching that episode is this... "SUCK IT BLOOD MOON! IT WAS NEVER YOU!" Now, Queen-Napped. This episode's just...isn't good. It's got a few cute moments/scenes in it, but overall it's a weak kind of hand-wavy explanation to suddenly get tons of Mewmans on her side after the entire season built up the sentiment that Mewni did not alike/accept her as their queen beside the monster population. It reeks of rushed/lazy writing and I wish they had done something else to earn that turn around from the population of Mewni. While it wasn't "Pony Head Show" levels of bad, it was definitely one of the weakest episodes in the entire show for sure. As a final addendum after I deleted my comment by mistake like an idiot, I have to add that I absolutely ADORE the scene where Marco just goes ham on everyone's asses. He's a total cinnamon roll, but when you push him too far, as we've seen before he will destroy people. Its something I've touched on a few times in my own writings and I absolutely love the "pushed too far" trope that always sets him up for kicking some serious butt.

I do agree with you about Star & Marco’s relationship. It seems kind of clear that they’ll most likely get together, so it just seems like they’re dragging their feet with it until the end of the season. Like you said, it probably would have been more interesting to have them actually get together at the start of the season, and then show them navigating their relationship throughout it. I like that they’re bringing up the idea that Marco may have to leave Mewni someday. Leaving something that’s become a huge part of your life is never easy, as I think a lot of us can relate to. Personally, when I graduated from my college Game Development program, while I was glad to have passed everything, I was also really sad to leave behind the friends and teachers I had grown close to over those 3 years. As they address at the end of the episode, though, just because you’re leaving something behind doesn’t mean you cut it off entirely. It’s always going to be a part of you. Just as Mewni will always be a part of Marco, my college experience and friends will always be a part of me. On a more… lighthearded note, lol, this episode was also pretty funny. I enjoyed the antics of the other knights, the “torture” scene was hilarious (plus, I love how calm Sir Crandle always is XD), and I liked the gag of both Marco and Star talking to the statue of Manfred. As for the “Queen Napped” episode… unfortunately, the recent trend of Ponyhead being more annoying than funny continues (at least, for me). It’s sad, because for the first 3 seasons, she was one of my favourite characters. I’m not blaming Jenny Slate – her delivery is still on point. But sadly, I’m not enjoying the character herself much anymore. I guess, like Star said at the end though, she DID end up making Eclipsa more popular, so I can’t be THAT mad (though, I feel like she was doing it mainly for the fame and attention, and making Eclipsa more popular was just a bonus). Ponyhead aside, the episode was pretty fun. I enjoyed the journey of trying to track down Eclipsa, and while I suspected it was more… “innocent” than it appeared, I did NOT expect it to be a VR game she was playing! That KILLED me! XD Favourite Quotes: “You’re just gonna cut off his head?! Right here?! In front of his own mother?!” – Sir Cuddles’ mother “N-No! I was going to make him a knight! This is a knighting ceremony! For knighting knights!” – Eclipsa “Are you SURE you’re not Mr. Candle?” – Marco “I told you, it’s Sir Crandle. I’ve never even been to Echo Creek.” – Sir Crandle “I never said I was from Echo Creek…” – Marco “OH NO! Oh no, someone’s calling me! I guess I have to… leave this awkward conversation now…” – Star “Oookay. “In the unlikely event that a Squire turns down their lifelong post, the Knight’s Order shall…” Oh… well, Sir Stabby had it right. We’re supposed to hurt you.” – Sir Crandle “If you so much as singe a single thread on that patchwork, I swear, your face will his every surface in this room… and when you wake up… you’ll be in the belly of that dragon…” – Marco “Ey, A bill from Seahorse??” – Star “Well, all that stuff you vanished from on my show was not free!” – Ponyhead “Well, Ponyhead, that was a… completely awful thing to do. But, you did somehow end up helping Eclipsa, so… I can’t really hold it against you.” – Star “And, at least, I don’t have to pay that huge Reflecticorp bill.” – Star “Okay… no. That part was real. You’ll have to pay that. Or they’ll find you.” – Ponyhead
