Arcane S01 E05 Full Length Reaction

THE PLOT THICKENS YET AGAIN!!!!!

PS.. Is it possible to be in love with an animated character? I'm....asking for a friend...

PSS I think there’s a few moments in this episode where I talk about Vi working with the firelights because I was still confused about the fact that “ship Vi” from episode 4 is NOT Vi. I didn’t see your comments on that until after filming eps 5 and 6. So forgive me for being a little space cadet and thanks for clearing that one up for me 🤣

Arcane S01 E05 Full Length Reaction

Comments

Well ... based on what you said about Tatsumaki Tornado, I know you were disappointed as well.

The Amish Electrician

This is the most on-brand Amish Electrician comment I've ever seen lol

Listen, I still say me, you, Hekapoo, Eda and Vi team up and take over the world, but the choice is yours… Captain Mustache can come too, if you want

A sex scene that didn't show any t*tt**s? What a waste of time...

The Amish Electrician

"I would give up my life for her." I'm sure she'd feel a little remorse, maybe even shed a tear or two ... but you'd still be dead. She might not be the villain, but she's not a good person, either. She's a user, like most of the characters in this show. Right now, the only character I'd say is a wholly good person is Captain Mustache, and probably only because we haven't seen enough of him to see the warts (maybe they're hidden under all that fur).

The Amish Electrician

Haha nah "look out for yourself is just that one line in the arcane opening theme. I would say there is around 10 LoL characters in the show roughly and also several "potential nods" / Unconfirmed instances. For example, completely unrelated to the show the Rat in the first episode that eats the cat when it is given shimmer is a possible nod.

Robert Cannon

Oh, so there is a closer connection to lol, that makes it even more understandable why they got a cameo. The transition from Jinx/Silco to Vi/Sevika is indeed very well done, the song fits perfectly. I just looked at the "song transition" again and noticed that the guy smoking the shimmer stuff behind the drummer is actually the guy Vi beat up and took her red jacket from. :D

silverarrow06

I think the hate is in a big part just because it's a trend online so people just join in, and the huge popularity and massive amount of radio play songs like radioactive got so if people were even just neutral about them I think hearing them all the time would get a bit much for people. Never heard anything bad about them as people, they seem genuinely just like nice guys doing what they enjoy. In this case 3 of the band members are actually long time League of Legends players and did the 2014 theme for the Worlds tournament so there is a history being honoured in a way here. The scene itself actually has a bit of a tough job in that you have to transition from this moment between Jinx and Silco to the fight scene with Vi and Sevika and in the mean time give insight into Marcus, Mel, Jayce and Viktors current state. I think if you break it down it's actually very well done but I do understand if seeing a band perform the title song is a bit jarring.

Rich House

In general, I have to say, this is a very nice community. I enjoy reading and discussing all your comments on the show very much. I've made some very different experiences in the past with hate and insults and shyed away from posting comments in forums or under videos for some time. That's why I sometimes tend to apoligize before posting something. So thank you! I'm so looking forward to the next episode. P.S.: Alycia, I really like that you actually discuss the shows you watch with your patreons. :)

silverarrow06

Thank you! What you don't see is how often I have to correct my comments before I send them and I have a dictionary website open all the time. :D I'm so happy my english writing skills aren't completely gone. I was anxious because I couldn't use them for some time, but the more I write, the more is coming back to me.

silverarrow06

I thought the Imagine Dragons cameo was funny and I saw it as kind of a thank you towards the band for providing the title song. But I guess it has the potential to throw you out of the plot. Why do so many people hate Imagine Dragons irl?

silverarrow06

Oh it's Jayce? Well I guess they are leaning into weird spellings hehe

Uhh thanks I had no idea there was a docuseries I'm definitely going to check it out!

Oh interesting! I wouldn't have guessed either of those reasons. And I am actually laughing out loud right now picturing people being mad about Imagine Dragons 🤣 Is it because they don't like the band? Or they thought the cameo was cheesy? I feel like people hate on Imagine Dragons so much irl that it's making me sad but also laugh that they're getting heat even in the Arcane world 😭🤣

If you love the show the 'Bridging the Rift' docuseries behind its creation is a must see after you have finished it. It honestly has it's own emotional rollercoaster and you will almost certainly just end up adoring the people behind the show. This episode specifically would have been written in large part by Amanda Overton who also was a writer for Severence which I'm yet to check out but it's on my list.

Rich House

I think some of the more amusing reasons for people disliking the sex scene related to either having immediately shipped Jayce and Viktor, or REALLY liking Mel. I don't think people really hated it but it did seem to cause more polarisation of personal taste than most scenes, except the Image Dragons cameo, that definitely elicited some much stronger opinions.

Rich House

Sa06, I want to express just how much I enjoy reading your comments! And you were the one who was telling me last week that English is not your first language, no? You would never know! -Very observant on the crest. I noticed Cait also had one on her sleeve during my second watch through. I wouldn’t be surprised if her wealth comes from rifle or bullet manufacturing! Good hypothesis -I love that Caitlin didn’t kill Sevika, too. She took Greyson’s words to heart and really values all life. That being said….I just hope her kindness doesn’t come back to bite her in the butt! -Thinking about Vi getting beaten for YEARS in prison makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry... I love her so much 😭 -I missed the mom in the drawing on Marcus’s desk! Speaking of curling up in a ball and crying 😭 -I said the same thing a few comments up about Caitlin and Vi as well. They both have hearts of gold! I want them to be together, too! <3 -The Mathilda monologue will live rent free in my head the rest of my days 🤣 -I don’t remember what film it was that came on my TV the other night but after watching Arcane I saw these real-life actors during a fight scene and thought…somehow Arcane’s fight scenes look more real than this? Even though it’s animated!? I agree- the animators did their research and it shows! -All the women in this show are so pretty! The men too, honestly lol! But in a very real way. None of them feel fetishized or flashy to me, like characters can sometimes be in anime. Maaaaybe Jinx, but it fits her character. Hats off to all the character designers! -AAAAH the subtle things this show includes amaze me! The look-back, I love it :D -I’m obsessed with that jumping shot, too! -Good question about Cait and the air! You would think it would have bothered her more.

Elisa I couldn’t have said it better myself! I said in a previous comment, how DARE these people ruin every other show for me from now on 🤣 I’m worried I’ll never love a show this much again LMAO I’m genuinely laughing out loud at my computer screen. I’m so happy my authentic reaction was such a hit during that scene. I said in another comment before this too that we were following mostly children in the first few episodes so obviously there wasn’t the opportunity for sexual tension. So I was just as shocked as Caitlyn at what Vi was saying- which was awesome lol! I was like, wait… who wrote this fanfic!? 🤣 Listen, if you ever get around to writing this dissertation, I’m first in line to read hahaha Honestly Elisa I think you may be onto something with Viktor. I could easily see that happening for his character. I thought that Jayce was going in that direction at first, too, after last week’s episode. This episode I’m not so sure. I do think he’s getting in over his head though, making one too many promises to too many people. SAME. Thank glob we’re getting a season 2!!!

PS your sunshine avatar makes me very happy

Robert 🥺❤️ thank you for the kind words! I’m so happy you enjoyed the reaction so much! I can’t even begin to imagine what a fun time you’re having- having already been a LoL fan! So is Jinx the only character from the game that we’ve seen so far? Or are Vi, Caitlin, some of the others in the game as well?? It blows my mind that this show is able to be as good as it is while STILL catering to its OG fans. Nothing in the series feels campy or commercialized to me. Which, again, what an absolute treat for preexisting fans to see their characters come to life in such an authentic way! WAIT A SECOND! Is “look out for yourself” a LoL thing!?! Do they say that phrase in the game!?

sa06 OMG I NEVER EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT IT LIKE THAT. I am fuming at how perfect this show is. How dare they. They've ruined literally every other show for me now 🤣

I used to have a mirror hanging on my closet door when I recorded in my old space! It helped my filming anxiety so much lol. I need to invest in one I can hang on my fridge so I can see again. Good thinking. Oooooh I missed the magician card! I was so focused on the death one. I feel like that fits his character as well though, no? Maybe “scientist” would have been more accurate…at this point in the show at least. If it’s meant to be a fortune though….. :O Who knows where his studies could take him!? LOL my relief that no one died in that opener, let me tell you! It made me miss Greyson though. OH NO WAY! This is such a great bts fact!!! It’s cool that someone who provided so many musical cameos got a visual cameo himself, too! The Vi and Caitlin scene in the brothel was too much fun. We were following mostly children in the first few episodes so obviously there wasn’t the opportunity for any sexual tension. So I was just as shocked as Caitlyn at what Vi was saying- which was awesome as an audience member lol! I think the Jayce/Mel scene would not have been the same without cutting to Viktor’s blood and the arcane. Do people not like it because of that? Or another reason? I’m curious! And I agree with your sentiments about it!

Ah, dang it! Lol I don't know why I had convinced myself this was the first mention >.<

I think one of their only similarities, but perhaps the most important one, is that they both have hearts of gold. I think they recognize that in each other quickly and are able to work together well because of it. I agree! I feel like they’ve managed to do that with every character in the show- even Silco! I don’t agree with his actions, of course, but there is a tiny part of me that can empathize with his cause. I don’t think there’s a single one dimensional character in this show! Oooh I love Viktor’s voice too 🥺❤️ I want him to read me a bedtime story lol

Some more things: - When Vi starts her parcours down to the undercity, after running down the sloped pipe, you can see her look back up to Caitlyn and smile for a brief moment, as if to see if she follows her. - The shot of Vi jumping in front of the beautiful wall painting of a woman is the most beautiful shot of this show so far - in a show that is filled with beautiful shots - When Vi gets to the lanes, she inhales deeply the smell of home, the same air, people from the topside only breath through air filters....... I just realized, Caitlyn never wears a mask or complaines about the air in the undercity. Does she adapt more easily than other topside people or is the air better now than it was ten years before? - When the guy with the red jacket starts to mess with Vi i literally thought: "Dude, look at her muscles and her confidence, don't mess with this girl!" xD

silverarrow06

I love the concert scene, too. The on-stage performance is so beautiful an detailed done. It also shows perfectly, how detached Heimerdinger is from the council. He thoroughly enjoys the concert, while everyone around him is making deals. They know he as the founding father and a very old (probably immortal?) being isn't corrupt, so they leave him out of all this.

silverarrow06

I still don't trust Viktor completely, he sees everything only from the scientist perspective and has no patience (understandebly) for political mind games. He doesn't see that they wouldn't have the money or equipment to research and develop hextech without this dance. I think his blood merged with the arcane and created a new form of life. I think thats why his research and the sex scene where intertwined. Creating life, if his theory ist right and the arcane indeed can adapt and evolve. Jayce won't be a classic bad guy, but i believe his character will get al lot more grey tones in the continuation of the show. In the last two episodes you didn't see him working anymore. He was sitting in his chair playing with the gemstone or tiding himself up infront of a mirror or discussing political matters with the Sheriff, while Viktor is working. All this attention definitely gets to his head. He looses sight of their main goal, doing good for the people of both citys. And he is influenced very easily, he changes his direction so often. We'll see, if he gets lost in corruption or takes the right turn somewhere down the road.

silverarrow06

Every time you think they reached the ceiling in terms of storytelling, they just lift the roof up a little more. Here we are again after another great episode and similar great reaction. These are my thoughts and observations: - Does anyone know where the Kirammans wealth comes from? Their crest is not only on Caitlyns gun, but also on her bullets. Are they rifle manufacturers and this weapon was specially made for their daughter? - The Flashback to teenage Caitlyn confirmes her sheltered and posh upbringing. She is so eager to win the trophy, because her parents denied her every opportunity to reach whatever goals she has on her own. For her it is totally believable that they paid the Sheriff of Pitlover to Iet her daughter win in a shooting contest. Her parents want to give her the best life possible (as every loving parent) and don't see how they're putting her in a golden cage. I love the fact that she chose Grayson for her role model and I love the lesson, Grayson (imo) taught her: There are far more important things to aim for than some trophy. Your self-worth doesn't come from the number of trophys you won, but how you use the talents that you're given and so it doesn't matter if she let her win or not, she is an excellent shot. Now it is on her to decide, what she wants to so with this talent. - I love how Caitlyn crosses lines all the time: Figuratively when she talks to Jayce even though her parents forbade her to do so, when she investigates the attack at the hexgate even though she was on duty to guard her mothers tent at the fair and when she goes to Stillwater Hold to investigate furhter even though she is not an enforcer anymore. Oh and when she forges Jayce signature and uses his position to get Vi out of prison. Literally she crosses a line when she crosses the red line to get closer to Vi's cell. - Vi got beaten up on a regular basis for all these years (I would guess the time jump was 7 to 10 years?) When her cell door opens and she hears the *tock* *tock* *tock* of the guards bat or pole or whatever it is, she fully expects to get beaten up, you see her rolling her right shoulder preparing for what she expects to happen. You can see her surprise (at least I see it this way) when the noises of the guard disappear and just the young enforcer remains to take her with her. You can hear the music change in this moment from dark foreboding to a lighter, more positive mood, when she sees Caitlyn for the first time without any bars between them. - Marcus is trapped in a relationship he can't get out of, unless he is willing to put his daughter's or his own life in danger. This is of his own making, so I don't feel much pity for him, but I feel really sorry for his little daughter, who is completely innocent, but will suffer the most when her fathers decisions come crushing back on him (I'm pretty shure they will.) Fathers (fatherfigures) and their daughters is an ongoing theme in this show and it has no happy end for anyone envolved, as far as I can see. Did you see the picture on Marcus' desk that his daughter painted? It showed her and her dad on a meadow full of flowers and mom up in heaven... :( - For me, it is perfectly believable that Jinx figured Hextech out this fast. She is a genius with probably a very high IQ and she didn't have to start from scratch like Viktor and Jayce, because she stole the book and the plans with their theoretical ground work. She "just" had to continue from there and Silco would give (or get) her everything she needs to do so. - I love love love the instant attraction between Vi an Caitlyn and I so root for them to actually come together one day. Despite the differences in their upbringings, they're very similar at heart and complete each other. - Caitlyns awkward Mathilda-monologue was the most adorable and funny moment in the show so far. - Caitlyn deliberately only shoots at Sevikas shimmer arm to destroy it and so to keep her from killing Vi, she doesn't kill if it's not necessary. You can see all three holes in the shoulder joint. - The new "Last Drop" has Silcos symbol, an eye, over the entrance. - The fight between Sevika and Vi is easlily one of the best fight scenes i ever saw in movies or tv shows, animated or live action. The animators must have studied lots of boxing and mma fights, beacuse every little detail is so believable and real. Both of them fight according to their characters: Vi angry and impatient, Sevika more controlled and aware of her defense. In the end, Vi looses because Sevika saw and used her weak point, Powder. - Vi is so darn beautiful, even when she looks angry. She and Caitlyn would make such a beautiful couple. - A propos beautiful: Mel with open hair on her bed: *chefs kiss

Damn I need to look into who wrote these episodes to see if there's anything else out there I can watch. Honestly I'm not sure if there is anything else out there on this level at all animated or not. It was such a joy watching this episode but honestly sometimes I got stuck just watching you because you were an excited giggly on the edge of your seat mess lol...not in a bad way I love watching someone to genuinely discover or watch something they enjoy and *cough* especially in the Vi scenes you were fucking dooown haha. I love it 😁 Honestly tho...same 🥰 This show is so aesthetic it's crazy...like Coucilor Medarda are you kidding me? Like her skin makes me swoon lol and then the makeup and the golden accessories and stuff she is so beautiful. And Vi she's such a badass and her hair is awesome and her nosering and everything and not gonna lie I've always been into like pushy teas-y banter so yeah, not hating that lol. It's so weird I have like 4 crushes in this show all for different reasons lol. Like Jinx goddamn visually hits all my sweetspots her weird fucking punk style the hair the color palette the tattoos...I mean shes so hurt and damaged which makes her a total loose cannon but visually hell yes. Character-wise I love Caitlyn she's who I'd vibe with most on a personal level in a romantic way...despite her snooty upbringing hehe. Ok enough I could write a whole dissertation on this and fangirl all night. I got to admit at first I didn't trust Victor but now he's such a genuine guy and I have a feeling that he's going to play a MAJOR role...not sure why but as soon as his blood floated towards the arcana my first thought was "Oh is he going to kind of die but then become kind of a Dr. Manhattan kind of superbeing god now?!" It might not be that but I think even if he dies there is something to come into play here! Anyone else get the feeling that Chase is accidentally going to turn into a bad guy? I don't think he has bad intentions but I think finding this recognition after such a long time and the fame and everything is getting to him and I feel like wheeling and dealing with those other Council people is going to corrupt him and shift his boundaries little by little. I don't want this show to end this is so good 😭😍🫣

Another brilliant reaction! Nice work on learning the names, very impressed haha! I have played League of legends since 2010 and have a solid grasp on the characters but aside from being giddy that they are on screen it actually doesn't effect too much imo. The craziest thing is how many little nods to them there are while balancing the fact you don't need any knowledge what so ever. I beg you, no matter how much you love the show... Dont play the game, look out for yourself!

Robert Cannon

What you need is a mirror behind your camera so you can see if it's recording from your chair 😁 The "Death" Tarot card you picked up on and the second card being 'The Magician" is one of my favourite little details in this episode, cutting straight from victor sick in bed. The opening with young Caitlyn like all the episode intro flash backs includes so much information while also being stunning. Nice to see someone have a backstory that wasn't a life threatening situation. The concerto scene is a favourite, the violinist on stage is modelled after Ray Chen who is the soloist for the score. So the violin while Jinx was shooting her machine gun on the airship in episode 4 would have been him, along with scenes like the opening bridge scene in episode 1. Such a talented musician and great that he gets a cameo. I liked all your perspectives on the various romantic/possible romantic relationships, Vi and Caitlyn have a really fun dynamic together this episode. I think a lot of people really don't like the Mel and Jayce sex scene although it's as you say so much more than just a sex scene. Pairing it with the Viktor's Hexcore merging with his blood and the creation symbolism all goes together so well.

Rich House

I believe "the arcane" is used to refer to magic a couple times in Part 1 actually! I know Heimer says something along the lines of "the arcane is dangerous" to Jayce when they first meet in Episode 2.

The team-up between Vi & Caitlyn is really cool, especially given how they're pretty much complete opposites – Caitlyn comes from money, while Vi was raised on the streets; Caitlyn is very posh and proper (complete with an English accent and everything), while Vi is kind of a thug. Despite that, they make a pretty good team. I also like the extra dimension this episode adds to Marcus. He could so easily have been a 1-dimensional asshole, so I like how they give him more layers here, showing him as a loving father, mourning his dead comrades, the respect he had for Grayson, and his regret over his past mistakes. And yeah, this episode made Viktor extremely sympathetic with the revelation of his sickness. Also, I have to say, Harry Lloyd’s voice acting is a large part of what makes the character so likeable.
