The Empty Throne depicts a simple but imperious looking chair. The seat is a mixture of stone and wood, nothing terribly ostentatious. The room in which it sits is where the majority of the symbolism lies. The throne is flanked by four red banners, covered in dust. Two iron sconces sit beside the throne, both have long gone cold.
Drawing the Empty throne is a harbinger of war and sin, a world out of balance. Nature abhors a vacuum, and politics doubly so. This card is a sign that there will be a fight and it will be difficult. There is a sense that the conflict will be larger than you, not something you can necessarily affect or fight. The conflict is one of survival, not struggle.
