The Owl House S02 E15 Full Length Reaction

I hit y’all with an extra dose of dweebiness in this intro- I just hope you’re ready for it 🤣 And this episode hit us ALL with an extra dose of CUTENESS so I hope you’re ready for that too 🥺❤️

Let me know what you’ve been up to in the comments and I’ll chat with ya there :)

The Owl House S02 E15 Full Length Reaction

Comments

HONESTLY, not a single part falls short in the making of this show it’s actually stunning and such a treat to watch!😭🌟 I didn’t even think about that but yeah, we’ve been watching the Owl House for a whileee now I bet it is kinda weird saying a different name, that’s so funny!😂 We’ll have to make one for solar opposites too, maybe we could just chant Cherie’s name like the audience does on Jerry Springer lol!

I love, love, love a good flashback episode and I thought this one was so well done! I agree that I feel more immersed than ever in the characters of this show. Seeing their younger versions really solidified that immersion for me. And oh my word, yes, the Lily and Eda scenes absolutely broke me in this episode. I’m so glad they’re back to being friends now but knowing how long they’d be distant for made their optimism so sad to me! The color palette is what really gets me in this show. And the lighting. And the character design….. SO BASICALLY everything 🤣 Gosh it’s just too dang good!!!!! AND LOL IN HOOTY’S NAME WE HOOT! 4ever and always 🥺 (I think I address it during the intro to one of my solar opposites full-length reactions that I have a really hard time not wanting to say “Owl House- HOOT HOOT” when I do my intro now- it’s so engrained in me hahah!)

Have I mentioned how much of a great time I’m having with this show lately? What an absolute treat this is every single week, and what a prime example this episode was of that very point! Getting to see one special day that changed the lives of both Eda and Raine forever, like WOW🌟😭 Just before I get into the flashback, seeing how much King lovesss Luz will NEVER get old for me, his little noise of concern at her sadness was freaking adorablee🥺 Okay, I adored getting to seeing younger versions of Eda, Raine, Lilly, all the parents and coven heads, especially a much more timid vice principle Bump! It’s so interesting to me to get this insight into where all these people came from and only makes this world feel so much more real and immersive, to know that we’re only seeing little glimpses of a fully fleshed out existence✨ Seeing Eda and Lilith happy and hopeful was the real heartbreaker here. Both working towards a shared desire and no idea at this point I guess the absolute train wreck that would soon ensue:c It’s beautiful how they’ve chosen to reveal information in this show, it’s always done in a very unique and impactful way that only adds to an already entertaining and engaging episode, and I can say that with confidence because every episode so far has been brilliant!! With every new look into the past another intricate layer of subtext and character motivation is revealed, it really makes every word spoken between Eda and Lilith in this episode so gut wrenching and I love and hate the writers in equal parts for their genius😂💔 Young Eda’s voice actor in this episode deserves some serious credit too like she did such a great job! The little snorts when she laughs and her endlessly charismatic charm, I was completely sold! I think it goes without saying at this point really but I just found the animation to be even more beautiful than usual, especially that final frame of the flashback like holy moly, these guys didn’t have to go so hard but I really appreciate them doing so😭🔥 Nothing can top that final shot for me though, Raine stood facing the head of the Titan beautifully lit and coloured, I usually watch the show on my laptop but I had to get that shot up on the TV just to appreciate it fully, so cool! I’d even love to get that framed honestly! Yeah, I couldn’t love this show more if someone forced me to!😂 Also bless ur heart for never missing a “HOOT HOOT” in these reactions🥺 In Hootie’s name, we hoot✨

That was obviously an honest mistake as I've used they/them everywhere else even later in same sentence as I messed up in. ^^ Turns out sometimes even trans people slip up when writing comments while watching a series on another monitor at the same time 😉

Yeah, I’ve read the Harry Potter books countless times. They used to be my favorite books until Rowling made her harmful views on trans people known. Since then I’ve also seen some critiques of the books that I’d never really thought about before, like the portrayal of the house elves loving slavery, or the way fat characters are talked about, as well as plot holes and stuff like that.

How I interpreted the explanation in this episode of Raine using whistling to change the chemical composition of drinks is that they have to know what they want to change it to, so I don’t think they could have accidentally altered the memory potion into something that would restore their memories. Also, Raine uses they/them pronouns.

Jenny D

Finally, someone who speaks English! Lol

Julian Q

In my fanfic, whenever there's a situation that doesn't make sense in its world of magic, I just have one of the characters say "magic's weird" and move on.

The Amish Electrician

I don't think it was a conscious choice to not have people see what's going on inside the maze to make the future plotpoints work. And even if it was then that was lazy writing. Don't get me even started on the whole "get harry to touch the cup" plan...that was so unnecessary and contrived fake Moody has a bazillion chances to make Harry touch a portkey or get him to Voldemort ALL year. If he did it like that nobody would have even known he was missing for hours instead of making it a whole spectacle that takes a year and has plenty of chances to go wrong. But EVEN if I accepted that as the reason still doesn't explain why they had spectators staring at the surface of a lake for an hour 😁 I've literally listened to the audiobook for thousands of hours and there's actually so many thing I've noticed over the years that either contradict each other or make no sense or are unnecessary....I still love it but as I listen more and more there's still things that pop up where I'm like...uhmm how have I never noticed this before. 😄

Oh really? I kind of assumed Raine just used to use their whistle thing as a habit to make things taste better and inadvertently changed the composition of the potion to where it no longer affected them and then realized what's going on and kept doing it. But I'll rewatch the scene you're talking about.

Also, Raine didn’t break the memory spell. They were never under one to begin with. If you’re curious, go back to Follies and watch the scene where Terra hands them the tea. It’s a really cool detail that we were all meant to over look, which we did!

Jenny D

Well you see, if the spectators could watch the maze then they would’ve seen when Harry and Cedric reached the cup and seen that it was a port key, but that it didn’t transport them to the start of the maze for a really long time, so the audience would be wondering where tf they went. Then they’d probably be a lot more likely to believe Harry’s story about Voldemort returning and the conflict of the fifth book would be a lot harder for us to believe.

Jenny D

Yes! I read it in one of my college English classes! I loled when Eda said she “made a deal with the devil, literally.”

Jenny D

Oh for sure! I’m yelling timber and everything!

Jenny D

As a highly detail-oriented person myself, that’s one of the biggest reasons that I love this show! Just like the Raine whistling detail in Follies, four episodes before this one! She-ra and Arcane are also incredibly detail-oriented shows that I’ve become obsessed with! Idk if if you’ve already seen them, but I can’t recommend them enough! Whether you’re looking for new shows to react to after The Owl House or just something in your free time.

Jenny D

Don’t worry Alycia, I don’t think anyone really noticed the whistling in Follies! I think we were all meant to write it off as them just cooling the tea.

Jenny D

They all just used the All-Seeing Eye to see all the action.

The Amish Electrician

Honestly I've listened to the audiobooks literally for thousands of hours and it probably took me 1000 hours to go like "Wait a second who the fuck makes spectator events where nobody can spectate" 🤣 I started listening to them in bed because I had trouble sleeping like I don't know 15 years ago and even tho I sleep way faster now at this point it's basically my white noise machine I put on the book where I left off set a timer for 1:30-2 hours and go to bed. You'd think I'm tired of it already but nope still going strong haha. So yeah 1-5 hours almost every single day for about 15 years adds up 😬🤪 Be glad I'm not boring you with all the other stuff I've realized over the years haha.

WHY DID I NEVER THINK ABOUT THIS!? Lol! I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and I’ve read the books and seen the movies several times but it never ever dawned on me that they are just SITTING THERE 🤣 especially when they could use magic to project something! That is such a funny oversight lol

I think Hekapoo was more about that big pair of ... horns.

The Amish Electrician

Well ... I was/am also brilliant and a troublemaker. Peas in a pod, and all that.

The Amish Electrician

Hahahaha okay if Jenny says it’s going down… you know it’s going down! Omgee I can’t wait 😍

THIS IS SO COOL 😍 gosh this show is so detail-oriented, I absolutely love it

Aww that’s cool that you’re helping to set it up! I hope you have a great time! Fingers crossed for those old flames too- that would be fun 😊

Awwww! Amish it’s cool hearing your type lol! You had a thing for Heckapoo too right? If I’m not mistaken? I love that you love a strong woman! ❤️‍🔥

Although that being said there’s a lot I don’t notice 🤣

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those sneaky sneaks!!!! I didn’t notice at all 😱

Oh I missed that! Thank you! Yeah based on the way they were interacting that sounds about right 😭

Hehe that's just one of the reasons I don't watch ahead...also I don't have to remember what I actually felt the first time I watched it or remember what I can talk about and if it's already known at this point or not. And as my memory is kinda trash it's easier for me to keep things straight that way. 😁

Well, *spoiler* *spoiler* the *spoiler* and *spoiler* ... but don't forget, there's *spoiler* and *spoiler* doing *spoiler* things. *spoiler* *spoiler* *spoiler* *spoiler* *spoiler,* so that's extremely *spoiler*. *sigh* Sometimes you can't even post simple comments without spoiling things if you've seen all the episodes. No fun, dang it...

The Amish Electrician

Uhh nice we got a full backstory episode! 💖 I gotta say I was lowkey in love with young Raine's voice..so attractive lol. Oh by the way let me go on a little Harry Potter tangent here...when the maze came up I immediately had to think about something that always bothered me. Anyone else think it was super weird that of the 3 tasks in the Triwizard Tournament 2 of them were ENTIRELY unwatchable by spectators, yet all had them?! The dragon one was great but the second one was entirely underwater so everyone just sat there staring at the surface of the lake for an hour and the third one everyone just stared at the outside of 40 foot high hedges. I've never voiced this to anyone but it has always bothered me...and don't come at me with like "There's magic surely they had some magical way to follow the tasks", no they didn't because in both task 2 and 3 nobody had any idea what was going on during the task as evidenced by all the reactions after the fact and surely someone would have intervened had they known at least in the third task. 😋 Alright sorry for geeking out on Harry Potter lol but this had to be said. 🤣 I'm so glad Raine was able to break the memory spell on themselves I thought there would be outside intervention by Eda or SOMEONE to do it maybe Hunter. So now we got at least Raine on our side, although their insistence to not involve anyone else or at least not Eda might backfire. But fingers crossed they eventually join up. Honestly at this point I'm kind of expecting a full revolt of all the coven heads except for MAYBE Terra, but she seems very enamored with her power so maybe that will take precedence over Belos' plans. And I also kind of anticipate maybe having the whole of the citizens of the boiling isles get involved to stop the spell. But we'll see how it goes...we're getting close now. 😁 Oh and the little abomination Raine was hiding at the end was so cute. 🤗 Alright time to tidy up a bit and then ONWARDS to the Solar Opposites, I can't fucking wait. 😁😁

Ment to ask this earlier but did anyone catch that Faust reference?

Julian Q

This episode was such a nice, happy, relaxing moment in this season! I hope you savored it. Keeping my comments brief this week. Gotta rest my thumbs for next week! Seething seas and puppet strings He no longer dreams of kings As above rush darken

Jenny D

Back in 1x17 when Eda’s showing King her old stuff from her school days there’s a picture of her around this age linking arms with Raine. Their face is partially obscured by some sort of ticket stub, but you can see part of their glasses and hair and their one earring. Also they signed the bottom corner of the picture with their fancy R signature. The picture is shown on their The Owl House wiki page https://theowlhouse.fandom.com/wiki/Raine_Whispers

I have my 10 year high reunion tomorrow. Kind of semi involved with decorations since my cousin’s one of the few of our class who planned it. May be semi cool to see some old friends, while paying tribute to a few who can’t be here. But just going to try to have fun, and try to playfully shill my freelance work/and my (been saying this for almost 10 years lol) stories. But maybe see some old flames and if all else fails sneak away. 🫥

Julian Q

Fun episode, also enjoyed seeing a younger Bump

Mark Ten

One of my very favorite episodes of the series, and the one that cemented Edalyn as my cartoon crush. I'd have loved to have had a girlfriend like Eda when young, and like adult Edalyn today, even without taking into account Harpy Eda. I'm so jealous of Raine.

The Amish Electrician

When you reacted to "Follies at the Coven Day Parade," and I was watching it for the second time, I paid close attention to when Terra handed Raine the potion, and Raine did indeed whistle while blowing on it.

The Amish Electrician

According to the dialog in the opening, this takes place seven months before Lilith curses Eda, and also puts the curse on Eda.
