Sabnacke [Sabnac], alias Salmac, is a great marquesse and a strong, he commeth foorth as an armed soldier with a lions head, sitting on a pale horsse, he dooth marvelouslie change mans forme and favor, he buildeth high towres full of weapons, and also castels and cities; he inflicteth men thirtie daies with wounds both rotten and full of maggots, at the exorcists commandement, he provideth good familiars, and hath dominion over fiftie legions.

 The 43d spirit in order as Salomon commanded them into ye Brazen vesel is called Sabnach he is a Mighty great Marquiz, & strong appearing in ye forme of an armed souldier wth a Lyons head, ridding on a pale couloured horse, his office is to build high Towers, Casteles and Citties, and to furnish them wth armour, & to afflict men severall dayes wth wounds & rotten sores full of wormes; he giveth good familiars at ye command of ye Exorcist he commandeth 50 Legions of spirits, his seal is Thus to be made, and worne as a Lamin &c.

Sabnac or Sàlmac, great infernal Marquis, demon of fortifications. He has the form of an armed soldier with the head of a lion. He rides a hideous horse. He turns men into stone and builds towers with surprisingly dexterity. He has 50 legions under his command

Original Text: Sabnac ou Sàlmac, grand marquis infernal, démon des fortifications. Il a la forme d’un soldat armé, avec une tête de lion. Il est monté sur un cheval hideux. Il métamorphose les hommes en pierres, et bâtit des tours avec une adresse surprenante. Il a sous ses ordres cinquante légions.

Appearance: A knight with a lions head, riding on a pale horse. 

Subrace: Likely fallen power

Abilities: Familiars, Illness, war. Associated with the construction of weapons and fortresses.

Notes: The pale horse is likely not the pale horse of death, but the allusion is not lost on me. Sabnack very clearly has some martial role in hell, their duties and abilities very closely mirroring those of King Vine, and I would not hesitate to speculate that Sabnack works under them. What really sticks out to me here is the De Plancy translation, which refers to the steed as not pale but “Hideous,” further distancing them from the Harbingers steed. 

Additionally, the De Plancy translation mansions Sabnac “Turning men to stone” which lends further credence to Barlows theory about some element of the harvested mortal souls being turned into construction materials for hell. 

Brand of The Citadel - By performing a human sacrifice, the marked can use the sacrificed body as a “seed” that will grow to form a large fortress complete with a fully stocked armory. The exact shape and nature of the defenses seem to be random at first, but the marked gains more control with practice.
