The Princess
Added 2022-07-27 23:52:53 +0000 UTCI've started getting the first few photos back from husband and wife duo Dillon & Ellie Richardson, who are photographing my 2023 calendar, and I am LOSING IT. I can't believe how epic and atmospheric these photos of my princess character came out!
These were shot at Bishop Castle (and yes, we lugged my throne all the way up there!) For the shot with the fog, we ran my fog machine from three separate places — once on each side, and once behind the throne — and they combined the images to create this dramatic, seamless fog effect.
This was my first time putting all these pieces together for this look, and while sometimes I create a look to match a vibe, I feel like in this case, the look is telling me the vibes! To me, this character feels burdened, distant, and like she has a dark secret weighing on her. What do you think? Gimme your princess headcanons in the comments!

The third picture very much says to me "I know you are horrified but I did what I had to do. I don't need you to understand." My take is a morally conflicted Changeling. I know that I am a monster, I know that I've done terrible things but what the King was preparing would be so much worse. The King courted power from Zuggtmouy thinking he could keep the upper hand, that the demon lord would be a powerful pet. Zuggtmouy's spores took root in his brain and he spread her influence to his council. From there it would have been a matter of time before the whole Gendrasi army was infected and soon the black breath would cover the continent. Princess Tzarna was desperate to stop her father, she searched for heroes but instead she found me. I ate her flesh and I ate her memories but her memories revealed the King's mistake. I ate her name and I became Tzarna but I had no choice but to stop the King, to fill the council chamber with fire to cleanse the demon spores. I convinced the people that the fire was an assassin and they loved Tzarna, loved ME so much that I had to take the crown. I hate the spotlight, I hate eyes on me but the me that is Tzarna loves these people and so I must protect them. Well, most of them anyway. A princess deserves a treat now and then.

One night while they were playing, she lost control and accidentally killed her sister. She hasn't had a moment of happiness since that day. Outwardly, she seems cool and collected. But she lives in constant fear that her secret will get out, or that she'll lose control of her magic and plunge the entire kingdom into eternal winter. She just can't let it go.
