Augury's new horns

Realized recently that I only had ONE still photo with Augury's new horns, and it was her calendar photo! So I snapped a few stills while shooting last week's skit.

Even though these horns are much heavier (and thus can only be worn for about an hour before I start getting a truly killer headache), I absolutely love how they look. Plus, the structure I built into the wig is WAY more sturdy than what I was doing with the foam horns, so I can bonk these guys on pretty much anything and be fine. Doorways, boom mics... no big deal 😂

Horns designed and 3D printed by Jesse Jerdak!

I LOVE this character. In my eyes she's your best. And her new horns: magnificent. ^^

Lordalike

Very cool 😎

Tyler Self

You have probably already thought of this, but would it be worth casting a fresh 3d print off the horns and make lighter copies to reduce the weight? Obviously you'd need to repaint them, but it could save you some physical pain.

Marcus Beirne

Glorious new Augury horns :D

Nick Asselberghs

I must admit also wondered this (or gold-plated them as a status symbol) (or on the old horn design whether they were ornamentally armored instead of a crown/tiara/whatever)

Korium9

Fair ☺️

Ramona Wanders

Yeah, I understand! Since you can't see the inside of the wig/the support structure, there's no way for you to know that I have already done that — the entire purpose of the support structure I built is to distribute the weight of the horns across the wig cap, primarily so that they don't drag the entire wig forward. I understand it was intended to be a helpful suggestion! It's just hard to offer productive suggestions without full context, you know?

Ginny Di

These are 3D printed.

Ginny Di

Do u ever 3D print any of your cosplay props? I feel like u could print some pretty lightweight horns which might me be more comfortable to wear. Also what are the new ones made of?

Tyler Self

Entirely fair 😄 I did not mean to imply that you did not do your best btw. Apologies if it came across that way. I was thinking more about increasing the wig structural supports to better spread the Horns' weight around more evenly.

Ramona Wanders

Clever! And thanks for the link!

Bubba, the Pale One

The only paint in this costume is on my face and neck! The arms/hands are sleeves made from tights with fake nails glued on. Since I don't make a habit of rubbing my face on stuff, it isn't really a problem! I have a full video about body paint if you want to see the process and learn a little more about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwXpMKiwGD8

Ginny Di

That's very true!

Chelsey Laliberté

I think they're natural! I don't see why gold horns should be unnatural when red skin and a tail isn't 😂

Ginny Di

I did the best I can! It's possible to reprint the horns in a lighter weight material (these were made in a bit of a rush to get them done in time for the calendar shoot) but since I don't wear Augury to conventions, idk how much it matters. I can usually get what I need done in an hour anyway!

Ginny Di

Her horns get bigger because it's where she hides her secrets 😂 absolutely love this character design!

StarLeigh

Awesome new horns, shame they're very heavy. No way to better distribute the weight across your head for comfort?

Ramona Wanders

Now, my question is, do Augury's horns natural grow in gold or does she paint them?

Chelsey Laliberté

Amazing. Love how shiny they are.

Shallie Dragon

Love the new horns! And that Augury was the calendar picture for my birthday month. Have to ask, does that red body paint rub off on stuff? Like do you have to worry about touching things or brushing against them and leaving red smears everywhere? Or does it dry and stay on pretty well? Also, is it a pain to remove? I know nothing about cosplay or body paint.

Bubba, the Pale One

They are very cool!
