Pick a Pixie — Creatures

I had the absolute privilege of working with Angel of @peachyblossomsart to create custom artwork for each of these five pixie variants!

Some of these pixies were inspired by a specific environment, while others were inspired by a purpose I thought they could fill for a dungeon master. I think pixies are such a fun little creature because they're not likely to fill the role of "monster" or even "ally" due to being so weak — instead, they make wonderful flavor and sources of information.

Hope you enjoy! Download your PDF here.

Love that!

These are awesome! I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what you could really do with pixies, but ... damn! These little buggers have given me a bunch of cool ideas. With the Cavern Pixie, I particularly like, "When alone, they enjoy singing complex, wordless melodies that echo back against the walls of the caves, allowing them to harmonize with their own voices." That is such a cool detail. I'm actually going to retool the Cavern Pixie and build it around that idea, their magic abilities revolving around sound and vibration. Their Tremor Touch, for example, is actually going to be a song--they can use their echoing little voices to create a resonance that causes localized tremors and collapses anywhere in the network of caves with which their familiar. (Sort of a lair action ... Hey! Callback! ;-) I think many of them also enjoy watching stalactites and stalagmites grow. (Don't judge: things like that are exciting when you're immortal.) Some of them even have artistic pretentions: they weave complex, echoing webs of song, and the vibrations shape the -tites and -mites as they grow. (Or maybe that's just an unintentional side-effect of their songs. Hm.) So one sign you're getting close to a Cavern Pixie's lair is these fanciful rainbow arabesques of stalactites and stalagmites growing in intertwined whorls, swirls, and curls.

I love these and already have some ideas how to work them into my game. (Also, now I'm wondering if Penelope ever had any cavern pixie friends. Because that sounds adorable.)
