For one, she's much easier and faster to draw like this, and for the other...I always thought there was a slightly uncanny element to her human-looking face in the game. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change the 808 we have for the world. She's cute and her design is very memorable, if in an amusing, derpy sort of way.
As far as the damage goes, thankfully 808's leg is still somewhat functional. Good enough for her to speed-limp wherever the plot takes her. But not good enough for another extended chase sequence. Both she and Chai have lost their edge in speed and agility. They'll have to change tactics if they want to survive the next half of the comic...
808's not a happy kitty though. I don't think she'll forget this night in a hurry. Anyone not called Chai wanting to touch her better be wearing safety gloves.
(It also seems like Friday is winning in the polls so I hope to see you all then for page 32!)

2024-05-06 21:51:53 +0000 UTCgod i LOVEEEE this 808 redesign, the pure black with bright cyan and red is just so crisp. it's a very different vibe from the original design, but it fits the comic absolutely perfectly (i also agree that the original is a smidge uncanny, lol) also getting rid of the collar tag is a very relatable choice to me lol, i can imagine even with a 3D model available to trace, that thing is a pain in the ass to draw
