Shirley had been mighty depressed, Quarantine had been putting a real number on her this Spring. She longed for the winter to be here. She longed for her spirits to be lifted. She longed for Christmas. She decided that if people could celebrate halfway to Halloween well that means she could celebrate halfway to Christmas, and she could bring out all her stuff earlier than halfway. That's how the shops did it. They started celebrating almost as early as when the kids went off to school. When there was school.
Shirley sighed again thinking of school mad her sad, so she had to bring out that snow globe. The one with the happy snowman, and the tree next to it. The odd thing about it was there was a small city between the sculpture and the pine.
She looked upon the globe and said, “Oh if it were Christmas I would wish, I would wish so hard that I could live in that city.” She placed the globe on a mantle and reached for a Barbie in a Santa dress she normally put next to it. When she reached to put the doll on the mantle, She felt a sudden sense of vertigo and grabbed onto the oak slab. The slab was raising up and up and up. Her feet were kicking and her shoes were flying across the room. She hefted herself up on the mantle as her pants were rapidly slipping down her legs.
“Woah! What the!?”
Her body dwindled more and more as she got to her feet and the sleeves of her top slipped right off her but from her shoulders down to her fingertips as she shrank smaller and smaller. She stood next to the snow globe completely naked. Quickly she grabbed onto the cute little mini dress the barbie was wearing and slipped it over her soft supple skin. She stood next to the globe that seemed to be stretching bigger and bigger in front of her.
She giggled to herself “smaller,” she whispered, “I need to be smaller.” a grin spread across her face. “I need to be positively tiny.” there was a slow squeaking sound as her hands and cheek pressed against the cold glass and she shrank smaller and smaller.
Eventually she was so tiny that even the Doll's dress towered over her. She walked up to the globe and a small door opened in the wood base. Several people walked out. They were holding clothes in their forearms “Welcome,” they said. “To Christmas Land.”
