New Campaigns for the New Year
Added 2023-01-02 20:36:05 +0000 UTCHello there dear Patrons!
The new year is upon us, and it's time to look at what is coming down the pipes!
Big stuff - Save or Die
The group that has been playing Tides of Death is looking to the future and planning out more campaigns, content, and projects. Everything is still in the works but as part of the transition to more gaming, we're branding under the name Save or Die. The first campaign we're planning is a shortish 5e campaign to test out the flavor of it for people who haven't tried it, and then transition to [Redacted Information]. There will be more information available as plans solidify, but you can also check out the Patreon page (https://www.patreon.com/SaveOrDie) or discord where details will be rolling out as we have them for you.
Old Friends
Coming up sooner than later, probably in February, is a short ~4-5 session campaign with the allstar cast of Gen "Livinpink", Nick "Greenzerg", TrumpSC, and Ryuzilla. If you've been a long time follower, you'll recognize all these names and be as excited as I am. Our campaign will focus on a group of clerics (90% chance it's 4 clerics, but it's still in the works) who have a plan to rid Arcadia of the Undead scourges that have ravished North Eridon, Central Mistrya, and the island of Gadia with the help of Illumis, the sun god.
Pawns and Patrons remodeled
Most of the cast of Pawns and Patrons will be reuniting for some new plans! Starting today, I will be developing a short length campaign for a group consisting of Anna, Rachel, and Gen, while in the background Anna plans on developing a campaign that she can run for us. She ran Mines of Phandelver for some of us a long, long time ago, but this will hopefully be a creation of her own mind, and I'm really looking forward to playing under her.
Maps!
Already in the work is a map for the old version of Arcadia, from before the world was broken at the end of the last age, but progress has been halted while I work with an artist to develop new art assets for the world maps. I fell in love with a set of map making brushes a long time ago, but with that artist fallen off the face of the earth, there's been no way to get new brushes and the same old ones just aren't cutting it for my needs going forward. The new brushes are in development now, and when they are done (no ETA, but certainly before the end of the month) we'll see the original version of Arcadia, we'll see a non-hex version of Bravo, and probably quite a bit more.
Project Cosmo
There's this non-D&D story telling project I want to do. I've been working on it a bit over the holiday break but it's nowhere near ready yet. If I can manage my time well, I'll have updates for you on it later, and it's first release will be here on Patroen. Since I don't want to spill any details while it's still in development, I'm going to use the working title of Project Cosmo to talk about it - but when it's done that is not what it will be called.
The Great Unknown - Tombs of Scoria
Tombs of Scoria is finishing up soon, and the cast has not discussed plans for the future. I get questions all the time about what is coming next and I have no answers for you. Maybe something, maybe nothing. Regardless of what is to happen, we first must deal with killing Scoria.
A personal note
2020, 2021, 2022 were hard years for the world at large. In the before times, I would have 7 campaigns running at once with the expectation of only half of them being played on any given week, which gave me 3-4 sessions a week. That was very manageable. Then the Dark Times came, and everybody started making all their sessions, which meant 7-8 sessions a week for me. That was burning the candle at both ends for me and was difficult to sustain, so I tried to ramp down the workload to not burn out.
Without getting into the weeds on specific difficulties, I can now report that the campaign loads have been rebalanced, my fees have been adjusted, and I have successfully stopped the burn out and recharged my batteries. I've enjoyed all the games we've played in the last 3 years, but for the first time in what feels like a long time I am actively excited about things to come.
It is going to be a good year.
