Hello there Patrons,
What I have linked for you here is a playlist of various cartography sessions, all speed up at 8x or 10x speeds to give an overview of the map making process. As time goes on and more maps are made, this playlist will be updated.
Cartography Timelapse Playlist
My hope is that this can serve as inspiration to prospective map makers out there, perhaps as side content while working on your own maps, or perhaps at even faster speeds to get a bigger overview of the process. One of the things you'll note in this is how often work gets thrown out. Whole sections that might take half an hour or more but end up not looking how I want just get discarded. Practicing styles of placement may eat up a noninsignificant amount of time and then be discarded only to try again, and again, and again. Map making for me has always been a difficult and lengthy process, but I feel I get better each time I go back to it.
There's some Tabletop Audio background music added, but there's no commentary or anything so you can mute it without worry of missing anything.
Map assets used are usually the Sketchy Cartography Brushes set that I'm so fond of, but in later maps you'll see a new set of brushes being used. We'll have more information about those in a later post.
