Woes of A Small Content Creator [Thank You Loyal Patrons, Subscribers and Teacups]
Added 2019-10-25 17:52:00 +0000 UTCHey Teacups,
I sincerely appreciate all pledges, likes, comments and basically anything that involves support. The smallest amount of money and the simplest of gestures really goes a long way.
The only thing that does annoy me is when people sign up to a certain tier to get certain content, but when it comes time to pay they either don't pay or they reduce the amount so they're no longer eligible for the content they've received.
I totally understand that not everyone has money to give. That's completely fine. I've been in that position many times myself. But please don't purchase what you can't afford. It's not a judgment. It's common sense and your individual responsibility to handle. You wouldn't go to a restaurant, eat the food and then say 'Yeah, I'm all out."
To clarify, this is a small percentage of patrons. I'm very lucky to have a loyal and decent community. I just thought I'd share some of my thoughts on the negative experiences small creators can have. I'm sure this isn't news to anyone, but it does happen regularly and it's not exactly inspiring.
Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend and I'll see you on Monday with brand new content.
Best wishes,
Tea

2019-10-25 19:10:13 +0000 UTCI didn't even know this was possible. I know you can sign up, pay for that tier, and quit, but you lose access to that content after the month, right?

2019-10-25 17:59:19 +0000 UTCAw man, that stinks. I hope patreon comes up with a way to combat it; you deserve all the support in the world for the content you make.

2019-10-25 17:58:20 +0000 UTCHey there. Thank you for your comment. I am actually on that payment scheme. The only problem is you can avoid it. It's great for first-time patrons as you have to pay when you sign up, but for returning customers you can 'pause' your pledge for the month or just underpay.

2019-10-25 17:56:15 +0000 UTCIโm not sure exactly how, but content creators can switch to an option for patrons to pay up front. I know of a few who made the switch to fix this problem.
