✨Microphone Change Up✨ [Change is a Part of Progress] [Thank You For Your Constant Support]

I'm just letting you know that I'm going to have to change my 3Dio mic to something less up close and personal soon.
I absolutely love the effect of the mic, but it makes recording such a nightmare. Mouth clicks, plosives and range are so painful to navigate with it. It simply makes recording an uphill struggle. I'll quite literally be doing the same line 20-30 times just so I can't get a decent one.
I've been looking at a lot of quality microphones and I'm closing in on a few that look very promising for both the content and the new studio.
I just wanted to keep you informed.
I hope you're having a good week.
Best wishes,
Tea

So many choices out there. It's impossible to know which one is right for you until you try it, unfortunately. Don't forget to look for used equipment. I just upgraded my monitors to twin DELL 24" 4K monitors for less than half the price of new ones!

2021-02-17 18:08:21 +0000 UTCI can understand the want to change it. The 3Dio is great for that niche part of audios and for the effects it can produce, it's ace. But for what you're trying to achieve it sounds like they're far too difficult to produce with. I can totally understand the burnout you've had recently if you're having re-record lines THAT many times to get them down. There's a difference between outright dedication and just dealing with incorrect equipment! I applaud you for doing both, Tea. Glad you're seeing it as a chance to reduce the workload so you can concentrate on keeping happy and not overworking yourself! Much love x

2021-02-16 12:36:30 +0000 UTCFrom your comments I always get the impression that you are an amateur just bumbling your way through, but since day one I have been impressed by the quality of your recordings - by the writing, the acting, the voice (not trying to be creepy here but my god your voice is amazing), and of course the actual sound quality itself... Everything is so high quality, especially when compared to a lot of your peers out there. Whatever it is you switch to, I have faith in ya, I know your recordings will still be amazing.

2021-02-16 12:10:24 +0000 UTCI absolutely understand that. Having heard from a bunch of voice artists, it seems like your mic is really good for picking up all the little noises. Great for certain types of asmr but not so much for recording dialogue. I wish you lots of luck on your narrowing down search.

2021-02-15 21:36:59 +0000 UTCHey Tea. I think it's clear from this message how much you care and how much effort you put into your recordings. I love reading your updates so please don't take this as a suggestion to stop but you don't need anyone's permission to make your job easier. Get the new mic that works best for you and make sure to use some of the time it frees up to be kind to yourself.

2021-02-15 20:22:03 +0000 UTCThis is actually great news because I trust that you'll still be chasing the best sound- but a better mic means less frustration from repeating lines. That will def show in your mental capacity to focus on quality now that you won't be dragged down by technical limitations.

2021-02-15 20:12:21 +0000 UTCThe fact you're considering moving to a different piece of kit compared to a lot of people who would just stick with the "known" kit shows how much effort and dedication you put into your craft. Never let anything force you to compromise if you don't have to. You take as much time as you need to find the right kit, we know you'll make it work no matter what.
