If you're exhausted and stressed, chances are you're not gonna do your best work.
I realise it's incredibly hard to set healthy boundaries with work. I am very, very bad at it. But I also recognise that burnout is very real, and it can lead to a lot of damage very quickly.
Sometimes, my anxiety over work gets so bad that I'll often end up vomiting, not sleeping, getting upset and frustrated, and all in all just sabotaging myself.
If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, this is a kind suggestion: take a shower/bath, eat a hearty meal, do a relaxing activity, and go to sleep.
You will accomplish very little at peak anxiety and frustration. Not only is self-care NOT selfish, it is absolutely essential for leading a healthy and productive life.
Please look after yourself. Even if you're not very good at it like me, we can learn, and slowly we can set better habits for ourselves.
Please, get some rest. You need and deserve it.

2021-08-23 06:50:05 +0000 UTCAs one who has been diagnosed with PTSD and Generalized Anxiety Disorder, you also need to keep one more thing in mind, one that most, including me for years, resist submitting to. You may not be able to sort this out on your own. You may need to seek out professional assistance. Do not be embarrassed over this. It is no different than seeking medical assistance for physical ailments. And do NOT let the outside sources that say that you just need to suck it up and get over it get in your head. Many times this will come from family and friends which makes it that much worse.

There are times I would be sitting in my car when I get off work just so I can enjoy the silence. Thankfully I and my fellow cook have been getting Tuesday nights off. I know that I should try to prioritize my own well being but I tend to ignore that and lie to myself that it’s not a big deal. I’ll try to be a bit more mindful. Little steps so I don’t completely over work myself.

Communication is key with not just yourself, but with those who can be considered your genuine supporters, lest you start lashing out on those people and driving them all away. Honesty can be harsh, but not many things hurt more than lying to yourself and all those around you.

Since you all ways work your own hours and never really leave it’s extra important to take REAL breaks. Turn off your phone and just relax for a couple of days. Just how the 9-5 people do on the weekends. So remember to take care of your own health at all times Tea. Kaisel out ✌🏼
