Simp4Sims' Graphics Rule Override. Please watch their video to see the differences in real time! Works with or without reshade. Truly a quality of life upgrade.

Lighting Mods:

Indoor → to banish that awful purple/blue tint: Luumia's No Blu Lighting Mod. I use V2. Simply download, extract the files and put them directly into your Mods folder. Unlike the outdoor lighting mod, this one shouldn't tax your computer at all and I recommend it for aesthetic purposes.

Outdoor → getting rid of the purple tint to make the outdoor shadows more natural (ie: black) and also adjusts the exterior lighting to appear more realistic. You can find it here. I use No Blu Not Orange. This isn't as easy to install as the indoor lighting mod, but you can find extremely helpful instructions here. Read the instructions carefully as you'll need to manually replace EA's lighting files for each world. I don't recommend using this if you don't have a dedicated graphics card. I have a GTX 1660 and my game runs like butter in all of my builds - no stuttering or lagging whatsoever!

Reshade → I use a personal reshade preset that desaturates greens and blues, adds a distance blur and enables MXAO.

Terrain Mods ↓

K-Hippie's terrain replacement → This isn't a lighting mod, but it does add to the realism of the world around my builds. Download, extract and put in your Mods folder. These are just texture overrides that make the grass, pavements and rocks much more realistic. The textures are the exact same size as EA's so these files shouldn't affect your game's performance. I'll be relying more on this mod instead of terrain paints in my builds moving forward so I recommend that you grab it!

Here's an example what this mod does: note the rougher textures on the rocks & the realistic grass outside of the fencing. GORGEOUS!
