Miles Morales: New Spider Chapter 27.

I had been working with Dr. Otto Octavius on our new project: neural scanners that would enable people not only to map the brain but also control devices through thought and a multitude of other uses. The Neurolitic scanner was influenced by the Chitauri and their mind-to-machine interface technology. We had made a breakthrough last week, which allowed us to build a working prototype.
Now, back to the spider armor.
The armor was a slim suit made from a Chitauri-titanium binary alloy called Titaurium. This allowed it to remain ultra-thin while being strong and flexible enough to hug the body like spandex. The suit expanded and contracted based on the amount of current supplied to it, much like my previous suit. It also granted a self-healing capability. When deactivated, the suit opened from the middle and folded inward into the pack. Equipping the armor followed the reverse process.
The torso was painted white with added armor, making it denser than the rest of the suit. I still included the classical webhead design of the Morales spider suit, but instead of red, it was black, as was the rest of the suit except for the glowing eyes and emblem. Super slim exoskeletons ran under the arms of the suit.
Behind the gloves were the new and improved web gauntlets. These gauntlets also shot nano spider drones that doubled as tracers. They could remain hidden in clothing, hair, skin (with subdermal capabilities), and other objects, even underwater or in blood. They transmitted a signal that could only be detected by my spidey sense. On the back of the gloves was a low-profile, collapsible pulse plasma shooter that fired a beam of concentrated destructive force. A booster on the upper arm could slide down to provide an extra push for flight.
By adapting hover tech from the Chitauri chariots, I had managed to build a low-profile hover core. This could slide under my feet when needed and retracted into the heel of my footing when not in use.
The suit had four silver tentacles made of a Nitarium hybrid composite—Chitauri-titanium-niobium—giving them spectacular durability and strength without compromising on size or weight. Each tentacle could lift up to 4.5 tons, using my body as support. This figure increased since I, unlike Otto, was an enhanced human. The tentacles were equipped with Chitauri blasters that doubled as boosters for flight. The claws, fitted with laser tips, provided a super grip on anything, as well as a super intense laser cutting edge for slicing or stabbing. The tentacles could retract into the pack, which was detachable and also doubled as an air and multi-terrestrial drone using the tentacles. This allowed me to summon the suit to my location anywhere on the planet.
I didn’t opt for spider-themed tentacles because octopus-themed ones offered unparalleled flexibility. I wasn’t about to be limited just because something wasn’t “spider enough.”
The spider emblem was a classic overarching spider, but slimmer this time, with tentacle lines incorporated into it. Both the emblem and the eyes glowed blue by default, due to the properties of the Chitauri core. Two Chitauri cores provided more than enough power, with one acting as a backup. They were located beneath the tentacles, protected by the pack.
My mask had a direct neural interface, adapted from the one I developed with Doc Ock, allowing me to control every single piece of tech in my suit as if it were part of me. The HUD also acted as a display for the EM spectrum scanner, and the mask had its own dedicated oxygen supply for situations where I went underwater or into space, coupled with an air filter and a voice modulator/amplifier. The mask could collapse into a half-face mask and further into a neckband headphone, hiding in plain sight. The neural interface allowed me to remotely access and control my suit pack.
My gadgets were stored in low-profile compartments all over the suit, mostly beneath the spider emblem and the pack. They included all the classics and new tech like the Chitauri matter phaser used by Vulture in *Homecoming*. The phaser acted as a portable door maker, allowing me to phase through any solid obstacle like Vision, as long as the device was on a stable surface. It could also form a portal gate back to base. I added energy grenades—v1 disintegrated organic matter, while v2 was for demolition, useful for when I wanted to do things the smart way.
Heading to my workstation, I observed the spider’s condition. Radiation was slowly killing it, so I had to make haste in extracting its venom, which would degrade in less than 36 hours if not metabolized. If I wanted to do something, it had to be now.
“April, map out the micro-cellular composition of the blood and synthesize its essence for introduction into a foreign bloodstream.”
“On it, Boss.”
I got to work extracting the venom from the dying spider.
Hours later, we made progress thanks to all the experience we had working on blood and serums. It should have taken less than 15 minutes, but due to the characteristics of Peter’s blood, it took hours.
“April, update me on the current progress.”
“Boss, we’re at 80%. Parker’s blood has special, unexplainable properties that work together to form a micro-biological smart machine. It self-repairs and decides what to choose. It’ll take time to get it to accept your DNA.”
“April, I’ve separated the venom into ratios. Add #1 and #2 to the mix. This is going to take more time than we thought.”
Peter’s blood was incredible, as if it had a mind of its own. It self-repaired and assimilated beneficial elements while discarding the harmful or useless parts. My goal was to get his blood to accept my DNA, assimilating with it and granting me the same properties.
After 26 hours of working with April, my efforts paid off.
“Okay, April, this is it. Wish me luck.”
“Don’t die, Boss.”
I slowly put on the modified gas mask, sliding the tubes up my nose. Piercing my skin with my stingers to inject myself would have been quicker, but using this method allowed the venous system in the nasal cavity to deliver the contents directly to my heart, avoiding liver metabolism. My heart would then circulate the mixture throughout my body.
Lying on the bed, I checked to ensure everything was in order. The vitals monitors were working fine, and the electrodes were set to track my system. Everything was ready.
I slotted the vials containing the modified blood and spider venom into place, gave April the signal, and hit the switch. I tried not to gag as the contents were emptied into my nose. All I could smell was the scent of wet iron and mild acid.
“The procedure is complete, Boss.”
With April’s confirmation, I removed the mask.
“Well, April, I don’t notice any difference.”
“Boss, based on the charts, you have a mild increase in strength, agility, durability, and stamina. Your brain activity has shown an increase due to a slight enlargement of the neural network, improving your processing capacity and reaction time.”
“Alright, April, I ge—blearghhh!” Blood rushed from my mouth as I collapsed back onto the bed. “Argh, it hurts, it hurts, APRIL!” Blood oozed from my nose and eyes, turning my vision red.
“APRI—blearghhh!” I was in so much pain that I couldn’t think straight. I felt like I was going to die that night.
“Boss, you’ve gotta hold through!” For the first time since my arrival in the MCU, I cursed.
“I WILL FUCKING LIVE!” I had to pull through. With nothing but sheer willpower, I held myself together, pushing my chi energy through my body as I activated my bioelectricity. Lightning crackled over my skin, evaporating the blood beneath me. I felt powerless and sick, but I refused to die.
Suddenly, golden organic webbing started shooting from my fingertips, wrapping around me and forming a cocoon. Yellow electricity continued to flicker across my body as the cocoon encased me. My vision went black, and I drifted into the vast darkness.
