Miles Morales: New Spider Chapter 33.

---

Two weeks had passed since I left Wakanda.

Ulysses Klaue was publicly executed after a brief three-day trial. Wakanda welcomed me as their benefactor, and my parents were granted residence there. I learned more about vibranium than I ever thought possible—its manipulation, its secrets. As a Wakandan citizen, I gained the same rights as any native, with access to all their tech and knowledge. It was an unspoken agreement that I would keep the truth about Wakanda hidden, which wasn’t difficult. With my parents there, revealing anything would have been beyond reckless.

The people of Wakanda? Genuinely kind. I had an incredible time. T'Challa and Shuri were brilliant, though Shuri, in particular, stood out. We clicked instantly. Before you ask, no, this isn't some Disney cliché where the hero falls for the princess (even though, technically, this is a Disney-owned movie). Sure, she's smart, funny, and... yeah, cute. But no, not happening. I’m too mature for that.

Moving on.

I was back home, standing in front of my parents. Tonight was the night I’d finally explain everything.

"Mom, Dad, I know you have questions about everything that’s happened, and I owe you a lot of answers, but first—" I activated my suit. The tentacles extended from the pack, the fabric folding over my body, the neckband expanding into a helmet.

“I’m the Arachnid, a member of the Avengers... and I work with S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Their faces were frozen in shock. Mouths open. They couldn’t even speak.

“Miles! What is this? Why are you with S.H.I.E.L.D.? You’re just a kid! How are you involved with them?” My dad’s voice shook with frustration.

"Jeff, calm down." My mom’s voice, though tense, tried to mediate. “Let’s hear him out.”

I took a breath. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. It was for your safety.”

“You’re too young to worry about our safety. We’re your parents. Did S.H.I.E.L.D. give you all this?” He pointed at my suit.

“No. I was bitten by a mutated spider. It gave me powers, and I built the suit myself. I just... wanted to help people. And I have. I know I should’ve told you. I’m sorry I didn’t.”

My dad pulled off his glasses, massaging his temples. My mom looked like she was on the verge of tears.

I collapsed the mask and repeated softly, “I’m sorry.”

My mom turned to my dad, embracing him. “Jeff, our son is a hero. Let’s be proud of him.”

"Boss, someone's coming," April's voice cut in through my earpiece.

BRZZZZZ! My spidey-sense exploded. Clap. Clap. Clap.

A massive man, dressed like he’d stepped out of the 1700s, strolled into our home.

“Touching, truly. I’m almost moved—” Before he could finish, one of my tentacles blasted him through the wall. But he grabbed on, dragging me outside with him.

“April, get my parents out of here!” I yelled.

“Yes, boss.”

“Spider Totem, it’s rude to interrupt.” He dusted himself off as if my blast had barely fazed him. "You’re different from the others—so full of life force. So succulent."

“Shut up, you overgrown vampire,” I shot back, knowing exactly what he was. An Inheritor.

“Surrender, and I’ll spare your parents.”

“FUCK YOU!” All my ranged weapons locked onto him, firing at full force. I knew he was a close-range fighter, and I wasn’t about to let him get near me without knowing how his powers worked.

“That barely tickles,” he said, striding through the blast like it was nothing.

"Boss, your parents were captured!"

“WHAT?” My heart dropped.

A second figure appeared—a woman in a purple gown. My parents dangled from her hands, their nails digging futilely into her unyielding grip.

“Brother, must you always toy with your food?” she mocked.

I didn’t even notice the man’s punch until it drove me through several walls. I hit the street, gasping for air.

"Sister, are you finished with your hunt?" he asked as I struggled to stand.

“The parents of this totem are full of life force. They’d make delicious appetizers.”

"No! You want me! Leave them out of this!" I shouted, desperately.

The male Inheritor chuckled. “Totem, you will be our main course.” He lunged at me as I rushed toward the female, determined to save my parents.

But he intercepted me, slamming me into the ground.

"Boss, we lost all aracnobots," April reported.

I hammered my fists into his face, feeling his nose break under the impact. But he tossed me aside like I weighed nothing, sending me crashing through several houses.

Screams filled the air as I tore my way back outside.

I charged again, only for the male to block me once more. “You’ve entertained me enough, Spider Totem,” he sneered, as we clashed again.

I turned just in time to see the female drain the life from my parents. Their voices rang out in my head, the final words they managed to shout before their strength faded:

“Miles! We love you, and we’re so proud of you!”

“Baby, we’ll always be with you!”

Their bodies turned to ash.

Everything inside me froze. The temperature of my body spiked. My suit melted away, leaving only the uru-vibranium claws and stingers extended from my arms. Superheated bioelectricity danced across my skin, turning the ground beneath me into molten tar.

I was a walking sun.

The male Inheritor tried to land a punch, but I was faster. I impaled him through the chest with my stinger, venom paralyzing him.

“That... stings,” he coughed, grinning despite the blood spilling from his lips.

I tore his throat out with my claws, then drove my stingers into his eyes, channeling my bioelectricity. His head burned to ash.

The female Inheritor, seeing her brother fall, tried to flee through a portal. But I shot my organic webs, pulling her back. I wasn’t going to let her go. Not after what she did.

As she writhed in agony, trying to put out the flames, I walked over to her smoldering body, ripping out her eyes. She screamed, but her cries only fueled my rage. I plunged my hand into her chest, tearing out her heart as it burned in my grasp. She, too, turned to ash.

I fell to my knees, roaring in anguish. “AHHHHHHH!” The ground beneath me shook, the air around me vibrating with the intensity of my heat. Tears evaporated from my face as I wept.

When I finally calmed, a portal opened, and Spider-Men from across the Multiverse stepped through. One of them, the leader, knelt beside me. "We’re sorry we were too late."

I looked at him, then brushed his arm off my shoulder. Without a word, I walked back into the remnants of my destroyed home. My parents’ bodies were gone. There was nothing left to bury.

As the other Spider-Men whispered behind me, I grabbed my phone.

"April, send the Mk 3.5."

Moments later, my new suit, upgraded with Wakandan tech and vibranium, flew into the house and docked onto my back. The black nanites expanded, covering my body, the tentacles extending once more. My eyes and the spider emblem glowed red.

I turned to the Spider-Men. “I’m going to kill every last one of the Inheritors.”

With a single command, I sent all of my parents’ belongings through a portal to my base. I planted explosive nanobots throughout the ruins of my home, and as I watched it all burn, I made my decision.

There was no home left. Only vengeance.

"I'm ready."

With that, I stepped through the portal, the Spider-Men following behind me.
