Miles Morales: New Spider chapter 11.

---

I bought a handful of medium-sized white mice—lab rats, essentially. They were going to be my test subjects for experimenting with my Bio-Electrokinesis.

Having a lab at home wasn’t a long-term option. It wasn’t safe. I’d been searching for a new place to relocate my setup, but luck hadn’t been on my side yet. I considered contacting my uncle Aaron for an off-the-books storage unit, but quickly dismissed the idea. There’s no honor among thieves, and sooner or later, someone would try to break into that "unknown" unit.

So, the search continued.

On my way to the lab, my Spidey-sense tingled—a brief, uneasy sensation that had taken some getting used to. It wasn’t as intense as it could be, which made me think that whoever was watching me wasn’t an immediate threat. But I wasn’t about to rely on their goodwill.

I wondered who it could be. SHIELD, maybe? They had eyes everywhere, and I might’ve slipped up somewhere. Or perhaps it was someone else entirely. Whoever it was, I wasn’t going to sit back and wait.

Back in my lab, I took out one of the mice and labeled it #1.

I needed to know if I had the same electric abilities as Miles Morales. Focusing on the energy within me, it felt instinctual—like I’d always known how to use my bioelectricity externally. I held out my index and middle fingers, tugging at the energy, and watched as yellow sparks with thin silver outlines danced around them. That silver tint was new; I didn’t recall seeing it in the comics or cartoons.

I touched mouse #1, and it dropped instantly. It was still breathing, just paralyzed. The confusion in its tiny eyes made me smirk. *I wouldn’t want to be you right now.*

Despite the rush of elation, I didn’t feel any different, just a slight tingling in my hands. I noticed a soft sensation from the lightning-shaped birthmark on my arm, a feeling that usually only happened during lightning storms.

Testing the venom blast here wasn’t an option—it would be powerful enough to destroy the entire lab, maybe even parts of the house.

Next, I wanted to test the delayed venom strike. I grabbed mouse #2 from the cage and repeated the process, but this time, I changed the final step. Instead of a continuous shock, I sent a fast-traveling shot—a simple, quick tap. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, a few sparks danced on its fur before it collapsed, dead. Probably a heart attack.

It seemed the delayed venom strike was more powerful than the instantaneous one.

Miles Morales’ bioelectrokinesis could travel through most mediums, even some insulators, as long as there was contact on the same surface. But something caught my eye—organic, bioelectric threads emerging from my fingertips. I discovered it accidentally when I reached for mouse #3. The threads were golden, almost luminescent, and had the proportional strength of an actual spider web. They conducted my bioelectricity like an extension of my body, and when I cut them off, they dissipated.

*Didn’t Miles get this ability later in life?* I wondered. Maybe being bitten twice had unlocked some abilities earlier than expected.

To test this further, I placed mouse #3 on the table, extended my fingers, and shot a thread at it. The thread attached to the mouse, and I pushed bioelectricity through it. Sparks traveled along the thread, burning the fur until the mouse eventually dropped dead as well.

I decided to keep this ability as a hidden card—a last-resort power that I would only use in extreme situations.

While experimenting, I felt my chi energy stirring, calling out for a channel to interact with my bioelectricity. Even if it was temporary, I focused on connecting the two energies, letting the chi flow through that path. My chi began to supplement the bioelectricity, enhancing it. The connection was crude but functional, something that could be refined over time.

The sparks around my fingers grew more intense, the silver becoming more pronounced. I touched mouse #4 for a few seconds and then pulled my fingers away. There was a moment of lag, and then intense yellow sparks with silver outlines began dancing around its body. The mouse convulsed violently, blood dripping from its tiny red eyes. The sparks increased in intensity until the mouse exploded into chunks of flesh and gore, blood splattering across the table, some of it even hitting my clothes and goggles.

This was significant. By channeling my chi energy, I could supercharge my bioelectricity, turning it into an electric bomb with a single touch. As long as there was energy available, I could use it. The key factors were focus and activation time.

After countless failed attempts to actively use my chi, this experiment had created a path for me. I took off my goggles, glancing at my reflection in the blood-stained glass. A smirk slowly spread across my face.

*And so it begins.*
