Writing Style Guidelines

Hi everyone,

I would like to present you with the grammar and spelling rules I'll be following as I write this story. Here we go~! ♫Metapod, Marowak, Kakuna, Clefairy. Dodrio, Seadra, Vileplume, Krabby--

1. Capitalization of Pokémon Names and Species
   I’ll be using the esteemed 'Bulbapedia method' for capitalizing all Pokémon names and their corresponding species. For instance:"Ash's Pikachu is kind."
   "Ash's trusted Pokémon, Pikachu, is kind."
2. Wingull vs. Wingull’s
   When referring to Pokémon species or a group of Pokémon, both singular and plural forms should be spelled without 's. For instance, "I saw three Wingull fly off into the sunset."
3. Poké Ball or Pokéball
   There are multiple correct ways to spell Pokéball. I'll be using the variant that the Pokémon Company employs on their official sites, which differs from the in-game spelling. Hence, I'll use 'Pokéball' (it also looks better in my opinion).
4. Trainer or trainer
   Real professions, such as bricklayer or psychiatrist, don't use capitals (unless it's the start of a sentence). So, 'trainer' and 'gym leader' also won't have capitals. There is one exception to this rule. The first letter will be capitalized if it’s used as a title and the title is used as part of someone's name. For example, it is capitalized if you call someone ‘Trainer Callahan’ or ‘Gym Leader Billy’.
5. Pokémon Moves
   In cases where Pokémon moves are referred to as discrete 'moves' and not as actions, I’ll be using capitalization.
   For instance:
   "Sudowoodo, use Rock Throw against Pikachu," instructed Callahan, commanding the Sudowoodo to execute the move. Pikachu responded by tackling Ash.
6. Items
   The previous rule also applies to items that only exist in the Pokémon Universe. For example:
   “Callahan used a Potion.”
   “Sudowoodo enjoyed a Pecha Berry.”
   An exception to note: Real-world items, such as a bicycle, will be written in lowercase, even if they are capitalized in-game.
7. Status Effects
   Status effects will be written in lowercase letters. For example:
   Pikachu was struck by Stun Spore. It is paralyzed.
