Comic Report 28.2 - Slowly But Steady

Here is a progress shot of the next page. I feel a bit bad at how long I've taken to get this one done, but I'm juggling a lot of things and I shouldn't feel ashamed of that.  I'm committed to working on nothing else but this all the way through to next week, so possibly by the end of the weekend or early next week this page will be finished.

I worry sometimes that I have tendencies in building interiors- that I have a certain way of drawing all paneled ceilings and tile floors, so I want to break away from that and make the interior rooms of the newspaper building look different. I think of old turn-of-the-century mill houses and machine shops with creaking hardwood floors and external light fixtures added after the fact- I basically want this to look like a store room that's been converted into a medical bay, and paint it to be just as grungey. It's not the best place to practice medicine, but it's what's available.

I've also been worrying lately that I'm still stuck in my midtones, so I'm trying to paint this room brighter than my brain would otherwise tell me is alright.  The big light fixtures help with this but I could probably stand to lighten the room interior shots up further.  The second panel I painted the floorboards too wide so I'll probably go through and subdivide them all into halves, but that should be a quick fix.  The remaining panels do not have floors or feet shots so they should be a breeze to paint through- whenever there's floors there's cast shadows and whenever there's shadows there's specific depth and perspective problems to solve, so floorless panels can imply depth and the brain can fill in the gaps, in case you were wondering why the floors were a consideration.

I'm gonna jump back to work and try to finish up these pages by the end of the weekend, and then I'm gonna get some gamedev work done before hopping onto the next page.  Thank you for your patience!
