Hello! Here is the textless comic page for the next update. I'll come clean: I'm sort of finishing it right now because I took the days around New Years to rest more than I did the days around Christmas, where I was finishing up a big game animation. Inking this took me about two days but I let my brain relax so here it is now for your preview.
It's always been a tradition for me to do these intermission strips in black & white to save me some time around the labor-intensive painting job I usually do on my comic, but it also gives me a chance to work on my pure modeling skills. There's a couple parts of this inking job I'm really happy with, namely Sixgun's boots in panel five and his hat in panel six. I would probably have orders of magnitude more pages drawn if I did them all in this style, but a) they wouldn't have the same feel to them without the greyscale light and shadow modeling and b) my skill at rendering would not have grown as much as it has in ten years without all the practice. Everything is taken in context, so that speed would come at some sort of quality or experience cost, and I wouldn't trade that for anything.
Next week I'll be rounding out some more gamedev animation but I should have the next page penciled as well. I'll use the available energy from doing the intermission pages to balance drawing them alongside game animation, to keep both tasks going simultaneously. Thanks for sticking with us into 2018, this should be an exciting year for our work!
