Dead Winter Minicomics Batch #29

Since I got my new computer built and running I figured the best way to ease into working on it would be to make some minis.  These are easy to do and use Clip Studio Paint, so it was a good way to get all my settings calibrated.  I don't remember exactly what all my tablet shortcuts were, so my way of figuring it out was to just draw like normal and when I need to do something or bring up a tool I'd see where my fingers just naturally gravitate to and go, aha!  That's my space key shortcut, or my zoom strip setup.  My brain doesn't remember but my hands do, so that was my method to resolve the situation.  I got two strips to share today, so let's jump right into it.

#080: Since I brought Sally back into the comic as one of the diner's new waitresses I've wanted to kinda have her do something with Monday.  She's kind of like a baby duck and she's imprinted on him as her big hero, but he's also not the heroic type.  I figure she might have pulled him over at the diner and asked him to play a game with her, since she's been featured as a background character standing at the arcade cabinet for a few strips before her big debut.  Monday looked out for her so I don't think he'd treat her coldly, so he gives her some kind words to compliment her display of skill.

#081: For this mini I wanted to do something silly.  Evoking that old early animation style, I wanted to abstract all the characters in a way where they're still readable as who they are and see if it works.  For whatever reason a rocket ship registered as the sort of symbol to show up in a cussing word balloon so that became the core of the punchline.  For the animal choices I figured Lizzie would be the fox because she's clever and resourceful, Frank would be the hound because he's always hunting her down and Alice would be a rabbit because everyone is happy to be in her gentle company.  I hope people have fun with this one.

I'm gonna focus on making progress on the main comic this week but I'll try to get more minis done as well.  I got a bit of feeling out how to paint in the new program but I should have time for both things.  Until then, take care, and thanks for your patient support.
