Dead Winter Minicomics Batch #34

So while juggling other things this week I managed to get another minicomic finished, meaning this will be a one-mini update.  I can talk a bit about my plans for the minis to help make it more of a substantial update, though, so I'll start out with that.

I'd mentioned before but my plan was to make it to 100 minis before calling it "season one" or something and taking a break.  I like doing these minis but after 91 of them I feel like I'm running dry on ideas that are good and I don't want to stretch it out beyond its lifespan.  I want to leave the idea open to come back and do more minis, but I feel like after 100 of them I can let them settle, get them up on the main website and use the time I spend making minis alongside the main comic to start streaming the colorizing process of some of my game sprites.  The minis have done a good job of keeping me in the public consciousness in between my longer comic page updates, so I'm a bit worried about losing that if I stop making the minis entirely, but I need time to work on these game sprites too!  If only there were two of me.  Anyways, that's where I'm at right now with my plans.  I do want to make minicomic #100 somewhat special- maybe not animated special, but I do like my hundred-page landmarks.

Now, here's today's mini:

Back on Minicomic #033 the gang had to recover an enchanted dagger macguffin from a bird on top of a tree.  Here on Minicomic #091 we get to see the payoff to that setup.  Maria was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper and sort of an intimidating writer-figure who Lizzie works for in clandestine.  Her outfit was inspired by a Fallout outfit I really liked, and I kinda imagined she'd be the sort of person to study witchcraft in earnest.  So her having this dagger and actually knowing how to use it lets her be the eponymous "boss encounter" of the strip.  Stacy is excited for it.   Also on a footnote: Maria has shown up a few times in the minicomics, but Mayor Richardson has not.  Hmmm.  I wonder why.....

I got nine more minis to go until I can take a break from them, and the last one is settled on meaning there's eight more to figure out.  As always you'll get to see them here first!  Until then, have a restful weekend!
