Dead Winter Minicomics Batch #38

So this is an interesting week for minis.  I've got two more to share with you today, which means I'm up to minicomic #098 now, which means I have two more to go to get to my planned 100 minis.  I'm actually a bit nervous about hitting #100 because these minis have been fun and people have enjoyed them, but if I stop I'm worried people will stop paying attention, which may be a silly fear.  I have other things I need the time to work on, as long as I publicize those things it should stay interesting, but I definitely don't have infinite minis in me.  I know how I'm going to close out the 100, but today let's look at the two new strips!

#097: I've played a lot of tabletop games in my time.  My friend group used to drive from Connecticut down to Atlanta for Dragon*Con every year and play one-off modules. I've met all kinds of players so I tried to capture my experiences as a tabletop roleplayer in this one strip.  The persona Pat is playing is inspired by a lot of people but mostly by one dude in one module who was convinced an intruder entered through a window for some reason, and so was looking for grappling hook marks and going on the roof and just hyper-fixated on an intruder entering the window, it had to be the answer.  The real answer was the DM of that game was filling in for someone else so he was making it up as he went along, I've never seen someone so mad before.  Jeremy the DM here definitely has a plan, though.  Everyone has their own little plan.  That's the beauty of mathrock games.

#098: As I'm getting near the end of this run of minis I'd been thinking about which characters I hadn't really represented yet.  In this strip we check in on Rick, Trevor's old pal who hid away in the mountains with a keg of beer and his friends.  A lot of time has passed and so Rick has come down from the mountain to seek out Trevor and take revenge for his fallen keg tap.  However, everyone in the city has gotten much stronger in that time, like literally every single still-alive character has developed some sort of fighting style or demonstrated some sort of extreme of strength, speed or precision.  Rick being a relic from the early pages of the comic is kind of fun to contrast against the modern comic and the game.

That's it for this week's run!  Next week I might have two pages but I also might just have one and then the last page would be batch #40, I don't know yet.  This is the last full week for my gamedev helltasks and I do want to push the main comic forward.  I also don't have very much of a buffer left so it'll be a bit of a balancing act until I'm finished.  Have a pleasant weekend!

Now is an excellent time to pivot the main story of the comic and game to focus entirely on Yuri, Good Puncher and Best Guy
