Thank you for your patience this month. The next textless finished page is finally here and ready to share! I just need to letter this and put it up on the site and a huge, tremendous weight will be lifted from my shoulders.
As a little art topic to post about, there is a fun and very old oil painting technique I used on this page to help make the art pop. In the very last panel there is a closeup of the Mayor where he is lit from the back. The old trick in painting is, when you are blotching in your background values, you generally want to put a light value behind the side of the figure where the shadow plane is, and a dark value behind your light plane. In this case, since the right side of the Mayor's face is cast in shadow I made that piece of wall behind him light, and the light spots on the back of his head have darker wall coloring behind them. This use of contrast always makes a subject pop, you can see it used a lot in classic paintings.
I'm gonna hop back to work and get this text lettered and get this page up quick. I should still have an art post to share tomorrow, so stay tuned for a small Friday post. I'm real excited to finally be over this work hurdle, because it means we're finally getting somewhere that people have wanted to get to for a long time. Until then, have a nice night!
