Comic Report #88.1 - All Downhill From Here

Hello again!  I made pretty good progress on the comic page this week.  I was tied up with a multi-day jury duty summons this week so I lost a bit of work time I'd wanted to use on gamedev stuff, so for now this is going to be a comic-only week.  The good news is I've gotten the whole page inked and my main character pass painted, so that just leaves the backgrounds and such to go and this page's backgrounds look very very easy to do, save the first panel.  I expect this page can be done any time between tonight and Sunday, so keep an eye out for that follow-up textless update!

Somewhere along the way I started changing how I painted peoples' faces, and that difference is evident here on this page.  I think it's something Hirohiko Araki does in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, but putting some accent facets on the sides of the face gives the skin a translucent glow, and it really sorta makes faces feel brighter and softer.  I don't have this effect applied in the first panel and it feels like it's missing something compared to the others.  I'll probably revisit this and brighten it up, but for now it's a fun thing to point out.

The reason I feel like these backgrounds won't take very long is because most of them are walls.  In the previous page most of the shots were like the first panel here, a perspective shot looking down rows of buildings on either side of a river where the size, placement and angle of all the little buildings, trees, railing and lamp posts need to be considered.  In these shots it's mostly just the wall of one or two buildings behind the characters, and in some cases the camera is angled up at the sky.  It's about on par with the diner interior scenes where Lizzie and Monday were talking- the scene that started this thread- and those pages got knocked out mega-quick.  I'm confident I'll have this ready in short order.
