So my plan this week was to try and get four minicomics done, but I gassed out a little bit and only got three. But! I figure if instead of overworking myself I just do three minis next week too I'll have retroactively hit my goal for this week, which is my current plan. Three is a net gain on the buffer, though, so I'll take it. I tried something new with this week's batch, so I hope you enjoy!

#064: This page marks the first of a two-parter. I've thought about doing a two-part minicomic, but I prefer to keep the jokes contained to four panels for simplicity sake. I couldn't really fit this entire idea into one strip, so I thought I'd do something special. The idea here is the crew fight a lot of undead, and if one of them happened to be much older than the rest it could be overlooked in a crowd. It ends up dropping a map! The comic takes place in an unnamed city in New England, so for the map location I put the X at the end of Cape Cod, so no matter which state you believe the comic to take place in it's still a journey out there to go digging.

#065: The second part of the tale. It's an old map and there's no GPS, so the exact spot where the line of the X intersect could represent a few square miles of land. Throughout the comic the crew- or specifically Lizzie and Alice- have been somewhat pirate-coded, where the girls told their story to Jason and Jocelyn back at Chantelle's apartment and Alice making Lizzie a jolly roger bandanna to wear. Here they get to dig up treasure and meet a real-life ghost pirate! To help sell Captain Sturgeon as being translucent I didn't give him the same darker outline pass I give everyone else. The characters have little references to earlier details about them, like Lizzie has her heart tanktop with the dried blood next to her neck scar, Alice has her butterfly tattoo and Lou is wearing a shirt with the logo from his van. I wanted to be a bit sillier with minicomics, doing things I couldn't justify doing in the main comic, so the last panel sets the adventure up as a tale Lizzie is telling, which she assures the Leungs is true. Molly and Lee have very contrasting reactions. You can from this point forward consider Lee an honorary member of the crew.

#066: When I draw these minis I try to balance out who the subjects are and make sure it's somewhat evenly spread out the cast. I've been drawing a lot of main-character strips, so this one is about some poncho patrols. One of my interests is makeshift equipment, so I thought it'd be fun to draw a pair of katar made from bean cans and shovel spades. At my old job I had free reign to a workshop full of tools and I used to do similar stupid things with discarded scrap metal. This strip is also an homage to a game that was very important to me growing up, and you may know it yourself as well. Big respect if you do!
That's it for this week's minis. I'm gonna focus on finishing up the next main comic page but I would like to do more than two minis a week and build the buffer back up to 20 pages again, but I'm also gonna try to take care of myself and not crunch myself to dust. Thanks for reading! I'll have more to share next week, but for now, be well.
